Title: This commercial, I wonder if they realized the inanity of it?
Post by: judge death on August 16, 2010, 11:40:25 PM
So I'm watching the news channel and this commercial for bud lite comes on. It has a trio of idiots bungee jumping from a bridge as a small boat with women and an ice chest of bud lite in it passes under the bridge.

So the idiot hooked to the bungees jumps down and steals their beer. He does this several times, taking some beers at first, then the whole ice chest. Finally he comes up with the top of a bikini.

A voiceover asks us to please drink bud lite responsibly.

So the commercial features a potentially deadly and idiotic thing, bungee jumping, especially so close to the surface you could grab things out of a boat, thereby injuring yourself and worse, maybe the boat occupants, then it seems to endorse theft by portraying it as funny and acceptable as the 3 idiots on the bridge are overjoyed to get the stolen beer, and lastly it encourages stealing someone's clothes and leaving them exposed.

Yeah, real great way to encourage responsible drinking there, Bud. I was just sledgehammered by the incongruity of having the idiotic and criminal behavior on the screen being mixes with the quick voiceover to drink bud responsibly.

I wonder if the people making the commercial realize how stupid they look?

True...
Sorta' makes me wonder why they haven't tried to exploit the recent tragedy in Manchester.

Wow . . . that's pretty dumb, even for a beer commercial.

Especially when you think of the fact that jerking off (Uh, no pun intended...) a woman's bikini top in public without her consent is not only theft but could possibly be considered an extreme form of sexual harassment or even a minor form of sexual assault, if done deliberately unlike the famous wardrobe malfunction at some superbowl...

Needless to say, this commercial made me do the double facepalm complete with extra loud groan.
