Title: Monster A Go-Go: 45th Anniversity Edition
Post by: InformationGeek on October 05, 2010, 07:25:32 PM
You got to be s******g me.  This movie is getting a special anniversity edition?  What did this movie ever do to deserve that honor?  Well I guess for the b-movie fans out that who want this film... I guess enjoy even though it's the worst movie of all times.

Well, look back on the history of B movies, and remember that there were two little gems called Plan 9 From Outer Space  and Robot Monster, and both were pretty much in a statistical dead heat for badness. There cold always be worse,

Not a contest in my mind: PLAN 9 and ROBOT MONSTER may have been just as incompetent, but they weren't incredibly boring like MONSTER A GO-GO (they contained little things known as events, which are always nice touches in a movie).  I wouldn't argue with anyone who said MAG-G was the worst ever.

True, but c'mon Rev..you know there's a true badness factor to a movie where a gorilla in a diving helmet threatens to wipe out the last humans, only to walk up and down the hill shaking his fist in frustration because his Calcinator ray is broken  :bouncegiggle:

Maybe the 'anniversary edition' will delete 20 minutes of footage.  :teddyr:

And even then, the movie would still make no sense.

'Cuz it's not Manos's 45th anniversary  :3

Now... if we talk about the worst movies ever, why not give Hip Hop Locos a 10th anniversary edition in a year or so?

I say Manos: The Hands of Fate gets a 50th Anniversity in 6 years from now.  All new commentary from the surviving cast, behind the scenes photos (which was taken a disposable camera), and a mini-documentary.

Actually, that DVD is out of print.  If it was still in print, I wouldn't have had to pay 26 damn bucks on EBay just for a copy so I could review it.  Still haven't watched Psyched by the 4D Witch yet and let me tell you, I am so not looking forward to it.

No, I rented it in 07 and it's gone now

here's a typical review

"Monster a go-go is the worst film I have seen in my entire adult life so far. It's very painful to watch. I don't know where to begin criticizing the film, so I won't even try".

That about sums it up.  You can just describe the film to criticize it.  I sent a message to a friend, here it is:

"NOTHING HAPPENS.  And it is still incoherent.  And halfway through ALL the characters vanish and never reappear.  Then new almost identical boring characters come in.  And half the dialog is unintelligible.  And it has a really dumb final twist.  Half the movie is static shots of scientists or military people talking in a room.  And the outdoor shots are exposed badly."

You could probably watch the scene where the one scientist randomly walks into some field with a geiger count, stumbles around for like TEN MINUTES with nothing happening, then abruptly dies.  That would sum up the entire feeling of the film.
