It is quite good, though I must admit that I wasn't totally floored by in it comparisons to some of their other works. Still, a lesser album from Swans is still a hell of a lot better than what you're probably listening to right now ;). This gets quite Angels Of Light-ish in places (see 'Reeling Thhe Liars In'), then on the other hand, they've also gone back somewhat to the towering epic vibe os Swans Are Dead, and I mean that only as a point of reference - this music is as familiar as it is different than their past works. Overall, I think it's a bold new direction for Gira and crew, even though I am little let down that the Angels Of Light are on hiatus. Still a solid :thumbup: as usual....

I know what you mean , Rev. I was really getting used to the kinder, gentler Gira of the Angels Of Light. You had mentioned that the only Swans album you'd heard was The Burning World which, in my opinion is their weakest album. If you want to check out more Swans stuff, check out their "bunny era" (White Light From The mouth of Infinity and Love Of Life). The World Of Skin side project is excellent as well. If you want to hear their earler, more abrasive stuff check out the Young God EP and the Body To Body, Job To Job compilation. I heard some of the early stuff via friends and radio, I just never owned any. I can't really remember why I bought "Burning World"; probably an impulse. But on the other hand I really connected with "How I Loved You" (great album!) and certain songs off the other two albums I heard. Melodic, yet experimental, and Gira does have a powerful voice. The dolla rone is my favorite I think. it reminds me of mobb deep like dark creepy stuff
