Let's face it, not all songs are made to blast loud, but some just have an unexplainable... effect (best word I can think of) when you blast the volume.

I think the great "wall of sound" guitar production lends itself well to loud volumes.

NOTHING makes me want to crank up the volume like Slayer. I'm actually working on a kutte right now, and Slayer was initially the first choice for the honorable position of backpatch, but I ultimately passed when I had difficulty finding a Slayer backpatch that I actually liked. The only one that appealed to me I chose not to go with, because it might make me look like a Nazi (it uses an eagle motif that is disquietingly similar to the eagle used by the Nazi party as part of their imagery).
