Title: Elizabeth Edwards Dies
Post by: Allhallowsday on December 07, 2010, 09:49:11 PM
Elizabeth Edwards' Final Days
The wife of former Senator John Edwards and a brilliant lawyer and author, Edwards lost a six-year battle with breast cancer on Tuesday. Margaret Carlson on the lessons in grace she’s taught us all.

We all have a terminal illness, except those who get hit by a bus, but few have suffered more in the public eye than Elizabeth Edwards. Only in retrospect do we know how painful it must have been to stand by senator and presidential candidate John Edwards on that beautiful North Carolina day in 2007. The press corps had been summoned for what was expected to be an announcement that Edwards, having learned his wife’s cancer first diagnosed in 2004, had returned, would be dropping out of the presidential race for the woman he loved.

Not at all. Edwards would be staying in with Elizabeth's full-throated support, saying how important it was for the country. That day she acted as if nothing had changed, in the desperate hope that nothing had...

It is unfortunate and sad to have read the news.  She had many difficulties.  It is disheartening to hear she passed.

She was a gracious and lovely woman, by all accounts.  Too bad her husband was an adulterous scumbag.

I definitely agree on both thoughts.

This is something the left and right can agree upon.

Maybe not the best time to mention that part of the story, but adultery did happen, and  for her to stand by Edwards after all he did to her, was her best revenge.

If the man had any feelings at all for her (and what he did to her ) he should be crying like a baby, knowing that he hurt someone who loved him so much to the point of unconditional forgiveness.

Very sad news.

It must have been difficult, RC.  I remember praying for you and her at the time.  Hope your life is turning back upward now!

Yes, that damned cancer.  My friend Marv passed away from chronic leukemia 10 days ago.

Beginning in 2001, (and ending around 2007) I lost my maternal grandmother, my uncle Joseph, my aunt Dottie (my maternal grandmother's brother and sister) and a cousin, Nancy (whose 3-yr old daughter Melinda passed from Leukemia in 1987) and I also lost my Uncle Floyd (another of my maternal grandmother's brothers.) ALL from cancer-leukemia related complications.

Yes it does run in that side of my family.  Seems we're not alone in fighting this monster.
