Title: Speaking of T.V. Settings
Post by: Flick James on December 17, 2010, 02:10:54 PM
That other thread made me think of this. One thing that drives me nuts on T.V. sound is how the dialogue will be one volume, but other soundtracks sounds, like the music, and actions sounds like explosions and gunshots, will be so much louder. It drives me nuts. I've heard this on other systems, but on my T.V. it is particularly bad. It drives me nuts because I've got a 3-year-old and a 7-month-old and my wife and I will try to watch a movie and we have to turn it up to hear the dialogue clearly, then suddenly an action sequence starts or music and we have to turn it down to avoid waking a child if they haven't already been wakened.

I understand sound, and if you're employing a sounds system with a very large frequency and EQ that this can be particularly bad. But I'm talking about the built in speakers that, I'm assuming, have a flatter frequency response and shouldn't be so prone to that kind of thing.

I wish there was a fix for it.
