She had the most hurtful, tragic, and shocking part in BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK. And was good in a tough part - not likable but beautiful. Good night, ANNE. It makes me think about something: We hear people say that "this age" and "that age" aren't really "that long ago" and that 75 or 80 isn't that old? But most people don't realize that Forbidden Planet was almost 60 years ago, or that the bulk of the Three Stooges shorts are over 75 years old (from the mid 30's.) Also, most of the actors were in their 20's or 30's when they starred in these movies. I guess my point is that yes, a long time HAS passed, and that it's lucky for us that we still have (and had) some of these stars still among us to become the cult figures they became. To think that some people who starred in films from 6 or 7 decades ago are still with us is an amazing thing. Title: Re: R.I.P. Yeah, a lot of people don't realize how much time has gone by. Take William Shatner, for instance...born in 1931 (if my memory banks are computing correctly) and that means he'll be 80 this year. That means he was nearly pushing 40 in the mid 60's.. For me, as an old 80's era headbanger, it's also hard to believe that some of the band I listened to have members who are pushing 50 ( or over.) One of the last of his kind, really. Very true, there aren't many left. With the passing of Jonathan Harris (Dr Smith from Lost In Space,) there aren't that man classic sci-fi villians left either. Or if there are, they'll never be of the caliber of character that Harris was able to muster. Making it even greater for Harris was that in a day and age when the studios dictated everything, he pretty much did what he wanted and got away with it. I think that's because the studios knew he could deliver, and boy did he ever! :bouncegiggle: Look how he was only supposed to be the "special guest star" for LIS's first episode, and how he would up stealing the whole cart of apples! |
