I'm standing behind you as you read this.

Do you see me ?

She didn't create squat.  She ran a computer simulation.

After this line,

Quote

That reality is distant, but researchers are getting close.

it was hard for me to take another word in that article seriously.

I continue to weep for what passes for "scientific thought" these days.

Yeah, but that wouldn't be a winning thread title.  :teddyr:

I think its exciting:

Not just a simulation... Thats pretty cool to me !

That's invisible?

That's invisible?

Well, I can read whats behind it so its close enough.

C'mon, even predator cloaks aren't %100

The worst possible thing you could do with that technology? Put it on the market. Stalkers and other unsavory types are bad enough when they're visible. Supposing one should have the funds to buy an invisibility cloak (or just steal it)?

If they did make a way to be invisible, they would lock that thing in a vault & have around the clock security. Now i'm waiting for scientists to create a hoverboard.

But how would you know if someone stole it ?
Its invisible !  :teddyr:

Scientists have another 4 years to make hoverboards a dream !
Make it happen nerds !

10 years from now, hoverboarding accidents will be putting skateboarding to shame.

I'm no technical wizard, but I think they can already make clear plastic boxes.   :tongueout:

The point is that there are objects in the box.

Basically you can do the same thing with mirrors. They are essentially turning the surface of the  ox into a set of mirrors so that you see what is  ehind the box. This actually cool enough in its own right, but hardly invisibls.

If you look from two feet to the side, evearything is right there to see.  It is one thing to bend the light around to a single pointd, but another completely separate (and far more complicated) problem to do so for all or many points simultaneously.

A neat parlor trick, but way way far from invisibility. Sorry to be a stick in the mud.

Sounds like just the type of gizmo villains in a 40s movie serial might try and steal, well that and death rays...

Which you just know somebody somewhere is working on building right now, whether for sinister purposes or just to see if it can be done.

Haha!  :bouncegiggle:

On a somewhat off topic, I did a trick to my cousin years ago...for his birthday, I got him the Horizon model kit of Claude Raines' Invisible Man, and I took the parts out of the box on him, and somehow he couldn't get the joke...here he's looking for the model kit and asking me where the parts were, and finally he got it  :bouncegiggle:

That was a good one!

Also off topic yet interesting, when looking in the main page it almost reads:

"Scientists create an Umaril The Unfeathered"

Geez... reading that I suddenly knew what Criswell meant about "future events such as those affecting me in the future," I was shocked yet ecstatic :buggedout:

Hey, an evil Ayleid sorceror king has to be a funny guy every now and then.

Not much going on now that Mehrunes Dagon's been defeated and the Shivering Isles have been tamed. What's a Heartland High Elf to do these days?  :buggedout:
