Are there any actors you won't watch for whatever reason?

For me, I won;t watch movies with billy zane or gary busey in them after they made "Valley of the Wolves", a muslim extremist propaganda film that viciously attacked americans and jews. It was on par with such films as "the eternal jew" and "triumph of the will".

No decent actor, especially an american one, should have even considered starring in this movie.

Go to zombietime to see a good review of the edited version they showed in america.

I won't watch Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Gwyneth Paltrow.  Although I have seen movies with them in it, it's always been because of other actors in the movie.  But if there are co-stars that I don't particularly care about, I would avoid movies with them.

Haven't seen DB's Ever After, although I probably would have if someone else was in the lead (even though I don't usually watch chick flicks).

Knight and Day has the double whammy of Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz.  And I loved Iron Man because Robert Downey Jr is just eminently watchable and I couldn't NOT watch it.  But I think they could have put a better actress in the role.  She just seemed simpering and idiotic and I didn't see any particular chemistry between them.

Anything with Justin Timberlake.

I actually want to see Valley of the Wolves. There aren't that many movies that come out of the middle east period and that one is so timely, however crass the politics.

I can't stand John Leguizamo and I certainly don't seek out movies with Seth Green. They both just come off as to actor ish to me, like they are 4 feet tall and comfortable wearing make up.

Will Ferrel, Jack Black, Dane Cook, Chris Tucker, any Wayans bro., Ben Stiller, Bearded Robin Williams (Means it's a romance comedy), The Rock, Hulk Hogan, Vin Diesel, Shaq, Kevin Costner, Sinbad, Chris Rock, Steven Segal, Jeaan Claude VanDam, Reb Brown and Val Kilmer.

Adam Sandler.

I can't think of any.  If I want to see a movie and a crappy actor happens to be in it, I'll see the movie anyway.

Sandra Bullock:  The absolute most annoying performer in the world.  Whatever movie I've seen her in has been ruined because of her.  The fact she won an award for best actress proves to me once again the Academy Awards are all bullsh!t.

Adam Sandler: I never found anything he has ever done worth one chuckle.  

Chris Tucker:  His voice is enough to set me off into lunacy.

Robert Pattinson:  I sat through the first two Twilight films...thats more than enough of him for a lifetime.

There's more but they're escaping me now.  

Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. Unfortunarly, I've seen Speed so I can't get that part of my life back. But I'm proud to say I'm happily The Lake House-free.

Oh yeah...

Robert Pattenson and Adam Sandler playing a retard (He's better when he plays some guy who's p**sed all the time).

As long as an actor gives a good performance I don't usually care much about anything else. Gwyneth Paltrow annoys me too though, although I'd probably annoy her, so I just call it even. 

You're going to miss some great bad movies with a boycott list like that.  I urge you to reconsider Reb Brown, at least!

For the people who don't like Adam Sandler, can you at least give Click a chance?  It's better than the usual films he does and surprisingly it can be a bit emotional.  It starts off an Adam Sandler movie and evolves into something much different with the change in tone it as.  Plus, Christopher Walken is in it and he's always fun!

Also, for those who dislike Will Ferrel, watch Stranger than Fiction.  You'll be shocked when you see it.

There's not a single actor or actress that I won't watch.  I only care if they can deliever a good preformance.  Their personal life does not stop me from watching their movies.

I have seen Click and I find it really good!  I haven't seen Stranger than fiction, but I have seen Talladega Nights and i find it the only good Will Ferrel movie.

I'd say check out 50 first dates. My favorite has to be The Wedding Singer, really good movie for the music alone.

"Pauly Shore is dead" is really good.  I saw it right after I saw Tropic Thunder and liked it better.

In general Adam Sandler does get on my nerves, but I find that I have liked him in certain roles. I don't care what anybody says, I liked Punch Drunk Love and found his character refreshingly quirky and sympathetic. I liked him in Funny People and sorry, but I also like Big Daddy. I think he has his moments but in general he just churns out crap that earns him a paycheck.

For the most part I cannot stand Adam Sandler but my girlfriend loves his movies so I've seen a few  (unfortunately). Will Ferrell is pretty bad too especially his man-child parts. For the most part I avoid Mark Wahlberg too although I know many really love him...

I see Pauly Shore pop up a lot but I'm embarrassed to say I actually like some of his movies.   :bouncegiggle:  I duuno why but he seems to amuse me which makes Adam Sandler even worse seeing he hasn't made me laugh once.  

I would put Will Farrell down but I've honestly found a few of his films entertaining. I liked Anchorman and Elf.

Vince Vaughn, yep another one I agree with.  He seems like a tool.  

Oh here's a good one, Jennifer Aniston.  I absolutely can not stand her, she plays Rachael from Friends in every damn movie I've seen her in.  That and she just seems like a b!tch which is an irony seeing she has been America's sweetheart for years.   :lookingup:  Matter of fact I'll add the whole cast of Friends.   :thumbdown:

I personally have no opinion of the guy but my theory of why the guy is disliked is because he was in Indiana Jones IV (Be honest, it wouldn't have matter who was playing Indiana's son, people would have been still ticked off) and in the Transformers movies, where the director isn't extactly good with actors.  All those movies have a big hatred and people will lash out at the common thread that both share.  From there point of view, all of those movies sucked and because he happens to be in them, he sucks as well.  Put in a different actor in those roles and people would have been complaining about that person instead.

Speaking of actors that get a lot of hatred, let's talk Robert Pattinson.  While his perfromances lately aren't that special, he was good in Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire as Cedric Diggory.  Personally, I think the first director of Twilight was bad at directing him and every director to handle the franchise since has decided to stick with that first performance and not try to get anything out of him.  Also Kristen Stewart, she was good in Into the Wild and Welcome to the Rileys.  These people can act but these directors don't seem to be trying with them and thus we have their craptastic performances in Twilight.

Tom Green (20 minutes of Freddy Got Fingered was enough for me)
Paris Hilton (expect for Repo!, I enjoyed her face falling off :smile: )
Seth Rogen (I have seen several of the movies he was in, and Superbad was okay, but everytime I watch one of his movies (The Green Hornet *shudders*) I hate him more and more).
Steve Carrell (Though, I'll occasionally watch the American version of The Office)

There are, of course, a few exceptions and I will always make an exception if the character they are playing dies. :teddyr:

I hate that horrible disgusting movie.  It's so stupid and wrong-headed that it makes me sick.  One of the worst films I've ever seen...

I've had a problem with Elizabeth Hurley ever since she said something along the lines of "I'd kill myself if I was that fat" referring to the size of a Marilyn Monroe dress at an event.  I think that just says a lot about a person's character and I prefer not to support her in any way.. not that she's really in a ton of movies I want to see anyway.  I have a problem where if I don't like actors personalities, I can't enjoy movies they're in... which is why I try not to learn too much about actors personal lives.

I also can't stand Adam Sandler.. maybe it's his voice, or his face, or his personality, I don't know.  Tom Cruise freaks me out so I can't see any of his movies either.

Julia Stiles annoys me. I don't know why, although she always seems kind of smug.

I also don't like Jessica Biel. She said in an interview that she wished she was less attractive because then maybe people would take her more seriously as an actress. She blamed her looks for limiting her career. Now if she were a good actress and was commenting on the shallowness of Hollywood that would be one thing, but come on Jessica, if you want people to think of you as a good actress you have to be....a good actress.

  I can't say that I won't watch Jack Black, but I am getting a little tired of his act. He needs to be bumped back down to wacky friend status, at least for awhile.

I really have to dislike the actor personally and unfortunately there are too many good actors who are jerks. I hate Tom Cruise and can't sit through his movies even though he's a good actor. "Fight Club" is a good movie but I hate Brad Pitt, the only reason he is any good in that movie is because it's easy for him to play an a**hole! Otherwise I think he is the most overrated actor ever. I would enjoy mainstream movies more if they didn't use the same actors over and over and over again. And so many of them are such self centered idiots: Jamie Foxx, George Clooney, Mel Gibson, etc. Samuel L. Jackson is a great actor, but I can't stand him, he thinks he so tough. He's 60 and hasn't seen the hood in years, run your mouth outside of Hollywood and see what happens. Most stars deserve to have the sh*t beat out of them! I wondered why it doesn't happen, well a documentary I seen on Danny Trejo answered that question. He said he wanted to beat up an A-list celeb and his manager told him if he did he would never get work again. If I were a big time director I would work independently so I could hire good actors who are mostly unknown. And if I seen someone acting like a jerk I would fire them. The Hollywood system is so money driven, they use the same overrated actors in every movie and allow them to treat everyone like dirt.

Will Ferrell-because casting him in a movie is indicative that it sucks.

I think Will Ferell is funny, but He's a acquired taste, same with John C. Reilly, they are similar comedians. I think The Rock is actually pretty decent, some of the new wrestlers are OK actors. The wrestling is much more show biz orientated now, unlike the old days when Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper would just get thrown into a movie. But I love "They Live." Roddy just plays himself and that's why it works. Piper rules!

Guess you never saw Old School or Stranger than Fiction.

Never seen Stranger Than Fiction but I caught about 15 minutes of Old School.  That was more than enough.

I forgot to mention, I also won't watch Zach Galifinakis. He's from my hometown and everybody makes such a big deal out of him. He was a total kiss ass in school and came from a well to do family. He recently visited our public library and read to the kids and people literally acted like it was the second comming of Christ. If he takes a crap it makes the papers. I don't find him funny. Micheal Ian Black and Sarah Silverman are much better than him at that style of comedy. I think he got most of his breaks because he is represented by Brad Pitt's management.

I'd like to make some comments on Johnny Depp.

Now, I like Johnny Depp, and the man can act, and I WILL watch him, so he's not really an entry into the thread.

However, he's kind of getting on my nerves lately. Ever since he did Pirates of the Carribean (I liked the first one) he's become this flamboyant weirdo that doesn't do much of substance anymore. He's known for doing quirky roles from early on (Edward Scissorhands, Benny and Joon, etc), but now it's like that's his thing. I have a theory on this. Perhaps it could be that he has given up on ever winning an Oscar, although he's had a number of worthy performances, as if he's said "f**k it" and is just going to phone in roles that give him the kind of paycheck that Jack Sparrow did.

When I think of performances like Donnie Brasco or Finding Neverland I think "this guy is good. Why doesn't he get more award credit?" Then, when I see that he doesn't, I guess I can't blame him too much for Alice in Wonderland if it gives him a big paycheck. But I do miss the old Johnny Depp.

The Burton Crew is basically a group of people trying to be more "artistic" then "Realistic" and fighting against dull realism in film. Members of this group include Tim Burton, his wife Helen Bonham Carter, and Johnny Depp. This is why Depp is a lead role in most of Burton's films.

I think his Flamboyant roles are great but he isn't always flamboyant. He's compatible with many roles.

Jack Sparrow: Flamboyant
Edward Scissorhands: Depressed
Sweeney Todd: Psychotic
Alice in Wonderland: Flamboyant AND insane (in a good way)
Ed Wood: An ignorant little prick (And stupid)

It all has to do with "German Expressionism". Basically back in the early 1900's a bunch of German people got sick of realistic films and decided to make films more art based and twisted. Sort of like a pre-cursor to "Film Noir". Burton is obsessed with the concept of bringing back the expressionist style and Johnny Depp is willing to help. Depp has a similar view on artistic film writing.

Pirates of The Caribbean by Gore Verbinski was something different. It had more realistic looking sets but the characters and the idea of the undead pirates was just up Depp's alley.

Don't argue with me about Johnny Depp. I'll talk forever.  :tongueout:

I'm actually a Depp fan as well.  They guy should have won an Oscar a few times already, his role in Blow in particular was a major standout. 

For my money, Depp's best performace was as Ed Wood. Love that movie! This guy is one of the best. I think he could play anything. Everytime I see Brad Pitt ruin an otherwise good movie, I think to myself, why didn't they cast Johnny Depp instead? He is light years better than Pitt!
