Title: A bomb in a bombe Post by: AndyC on February 12, 2011, 06:36:45 PM Something made me think of this movie, and I can't remember what it was. It was a 70s or early 80s detective comedy, possibly with an American detective in Europe. At some point in the movie, somebody tries to blow up an important gathering by planting an explosive device in the dessert - a bombe glacee. Naturally, the hero tries to tell people it's a bomb, and they respond as you would imagine. I can't remember much of this movie. Might have been made for TV.

Funny, because what got me thinking about it was seeing Robert Morley in something else, which made me think of Who's Killing the Great Chefs of Europe?, which made me think of the bomb/bombe scene, except that I remembered it as a different movie for some reason.
That's probably because I saw it once, or maybe twice, about 30 years ago, and the memory is pretty vague. I had also remembered Great Chefs of Europe as being made in the late 60s or early 70s, rather than 1978, and being a bit more surreal. I was probably getting it a little bit mixed up with Theater of Blood (1973), which also had prominent people killed off in bizarrely appropriate ways, including a gluttonous Robert Morley. Anyway, that's the movie. Thank you. |
