Title: Shredder (2006) is Horror 101.
Post by: 66Crush on February 16, 2011, 06:07:39 PM
"Shredder" is a liitle gem about snowboarders being killed at ski resort. This is the best example of a by the numbers slasher film that I have ever seen. It's so stupid and predictable I couldn't help but like it. I was even impressed by the fact that the movie doesn't even attempt to think outside the box. It's as planned out as a city map. You have your obnoxious characters (hot blonde girl, always in her panties, cheats on boyfriend with french douche). Your standard nudity (easy girl who looks like Miley Cyrus) and lot's of bad puns (Frosty the Dead Man). Some backstory about skiers not following the rules and someone dies, so killer seeks revenge. Stupid plot twist (french guy is not really french). Crap FX (couldn't afford Tom Savini) and no budget (stock footage of a ski lodge). If someone was taking a class in how to do a cheap slasher film, this is the movie they should see. I was amazed at how well they followed the formula. This film gave me exactly what I expected. No suprises, predictable kills, pretty girls. A solid C+ movie.

I enjoyed it in a way that sometimes it's just nice to have a standard predictable slasher film that doesn't try to "wow" you.

When you watch something as heavy as "I Spit on Your Grave," (where the violence is realistic and sad) it's nice to have a stupid horror movie with annoying characters you want to see die in stupid ways.
