Title: What does your "signature" mean?
Post by: RCMerchant on March 01, 2011, 06:22:58 AM
You know...the little blurbs benath your profile?
Some are self explanatory...others  more esoteric.
Mine is pretty self explanatory-it's a quote from the film The BLACK CAT,with Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff.
And the dialouge exchange under my profile pic is from the documentary MANSON.

So...?

I always wondered where that quote came from, RC.

My under-post quote comes from a character in Year of The Dragon ~ a worker in a Chinese restaurant says that to Mickey Rourke.

Mine is just one of my bits of nonsense that reflect the whimsical side of my nature.  I change it from time to time.

Mine is from the Kung Fu Kapers episode of The Goodies. It's a wise saying from the grand master of Ecky Thump, the Lancashire martial art.

A bit of nonsensical sarcasm on my part. I saw the phrase "This space intentionally left blank" recently, and it was meant un-sarcastically, and I never understood the purpose of it. Why do I need to know that somebody meant to leave a space blank? Does it matter? It's blank, isn't it? Why do I have to think about why it might be blank?

I like...Elvira.

I also like Doctor Who, Tomb Raider and I've gotten rather fond of the X Men recently.

Oh, and I don't really 'do' organised religion...

Mine is (was) a reaction to all those "Appreciation" threads. No matter the intentions, they are a insensitive slap in the face to others:

1. My way of saying "You are appreciated, whoever you are."

2. A sarcastic stinger against cliquish behavior, segregation and favoring.

My signature is an advertisement for the greatest B-movie night to run weekly in Edinburgh! And the only!

I expect for you all to be there if you ever get abandoned in Edinburgh on a Monday.

My signature is balant advertisment for my website/blog.  Now words underneath my Avatar's picture is always changing to reflect the character.  This time, I picked Lord Cat or Cat God from Pani Poni Dash, a gigantic cat that lives inside of a vending machine that claims to be God.  Whether that's true or not is suspect, but whenever he appears he is always clutching a bunch of soda cans and offering them up to whoever's at the machine and says, "Want one?  They're warm because of my body heat!"  Yes, the show he is from is insane.

Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion

My sig is a play upon the warning written in blood upon the altar of Dibella in the port town of Anvil. It prophesizes the return of Umaril The Unfeathered, the Ayleid sorceror king who vowed revenge upon The Nine and their followers after his defeat by the Holy Crusader, Pelinal Whitestrake.

Pelinal is Ayleid singular for "outsider" so the name of the knight who defated him is translated as "Whitestrake The Outsider."

Pellani Tya Balngua: "Outsiders, you shall taste our mighty power!"
Umarile Na Aran: " Umaril is King!"
Umarile Na Nagaia: "Umaril is Death!"

It's pretty cool that they made an entire language up for a race of beings in the game!

Mine is simple. A .gif of Justin Bieber being shot to death on CSI. "I could watch this for hours!"

As for the word's under my avatar it's just a joke about Sweeney Todd. Self-explanitory.

My avatar, for the non-game show fans, is a Whammy from Press Your Luck.  He robs the players of their money if they stop a flashing light on his space.  Thus his "Hee hee hee!" mocking response.  And my siggy, "ret", is what I'm usually referred to on NGSforums, my other site I often visit besides this one.

It's A line from "The World's Fastest Indian".

I'm not sure what, but it has to do with Burt's "Prostate Problem".

It's important to the story, because they could've just stuck with the "Old Fart with a Bum Ticker" cliche'.
Including Burt's trials & triumphs in simply taking a leak fleshes out the character in a way that speaks volumes about about a determined old man (with "old man problems) who stays very free spirited.

You don't wanna see what he did with it, RC!  Or maybe you do...

I think Joe Bob Briggs is one of the great under-appreciated bad movie icons, and I have a copy of every review he's published, so once a week I include a new quote from him.

I liked Bela in Ed Wood's famous 3 films and created a montage which amused myself using those roles as inspiration.

For me it is a quote from Mark Twain or credited to him at least.

For me, I feel detached from things and have felt like things have not made sense or that I feel very different from many years ago.  With all that I feel as though I have been sent away from the mind and thoughts I once had and so have lost that portion of my personality.  I miss some of it more then I miss other things.

My under post signature is a line from the movie Black Dynamite.  That movie makes me laugh until I can't breathe.

My under avatar line is from the Tori Amos song "Jackie's Strength" and I think it's to do with a woman trying to find her sense of self through the opinion of men instead of coming to terms with herself from her own idea of who and what she should be.

The line under my actual name a line from another Tori Amos song "Spark".  I believe this song is about when Tori had a miscarriage and how she felt like a failure as a woman because she couldn't succeed in the most basic of female functions, ie, having a baby.

I've been feeling sorry for myself lately, hence the negativity. But I will search right now for more positive things to say

I've ignored the signature function, which I should probably change.

I think I'm going to add "Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill." That is perfect b-movie dialogue.

Either that or "Tenser, said the tensor. Tension, apprehension, and dissension have begun." (If you get that reference, you are a cool person.)

If you're wondering where the thing underneath my avatar came from, it's this:

And it's true!
