Okay.  This could be taken tongue-in-cheek as well, so which ever way your perspective runs, it's either good or bad.

1.  I'm tired of being in my sexual prime and not getting any.
2.  All men are bastards.
3.  I wish we had laxer gun laws in the this country because I have a serious list of people I'd like to take out with a sniper rifle.
4.  I'm tired of the Indian people in my bulding making food that smells so disgusting, I have to nearly wear a gas mask just to watch tv.
5.  I'm sick to death of *certain* cultures in this country complaining that we don't make them feel welcome and that we hate them because of their religion/dress/traditions/whatever and yet they make some suburbs so unsafe because of their regressive cultural practices and attitides to women that the police have no choice but to suspect everyone one of them and crack down harder on them than they would with anyone else.

Okay, that's about it.  If I've offended anyone, I apologise, but I'm just so sick of the "I'm so special, look at me, look at me" perspective that's pervaded our country these days.

1.  Nobody owes you ANYTHING
2.  If money and bling isn't raining down on you from the sky, then GO OUT AND GET A FRICKING JOB like the rest of us and buy it yourself.  Don't expect anyone to hand it to you.

Being a vegetarian, I actually like some Indian dishes; but I've never been around it enough to notice a smell. For me, it's Chinese food, or I guess the American equivalent, that I can't stand the smell of.

Alright you want me to speak my mind...I will. At times, I feel like I don't belong anywhere in this world and even at times still feel an outsider here. At times, I really miss the old Scifilm board and getting a chance to write and express myself over there. I miss writing and wish I could get my butt back to doing a lot more of it. I miss IronWolfe, marthahunter, Bobby G and telegonus. At times, I have held back here because a lot of people might not like it that I wouldn't mind at all if every ounce of alcohol was wiped completely and utterly out of existence and I think the world would be a better place for it in many, many ways. Sometimes I'm "far too canadian" (as Spirit of the West once sang) and tend towards being a bit perhaps overly reserved and passive. I fear for today's kids growing up in a world that fosters so much drug use, even in the guise of medicines most don't even really need although many think they do. I love writing poems. I had a story idea in my head recently but then noticed the trailer for SUCKER PUNCH looks much the same...I hate that I'm getting older and it feels more and more like I've talked about every damn thing under the sun twice or three times already and I ain't even all that old yet. I wish there was more opportunity for creative people in the world and we didn't have to work crappy jobs while doing what we really love in our spare time. I hate that my home province promotes drinking as much as it does in its culture...it embarrasses me.

This forum is damn cool though. I love all the folks here who truly love the old-time stuff be it Universal Monsters, Film Noir, 50s Sci-Fi, Hammer & Amicus films and even the exploitation junk/thrash or should that be treasure of the 60s-70s. I love the genuine love for bad movies. At times though this forum definitely feels a lonely boys club that tends to get overexcited about the handful of girls (hey's there's actually girls in the comic book/geek/bad movie/cult movie site?!) who pop in here. Thankfully the gals are all super nice and don't seem to mind the attention...heck dare I say some even love it? Nothing wrong with that though...we're an odd group of bad movie loving folks, lonely and isolated in some ways but ultimately united on some level through this forum..

Windows 7 annoys the heell outta me...I still prefer XP. Posting here the post jumps up and down, up and down. Very annoying..it seems to be a 7 problem. That and the text jumping around and suddenly erasing at times.

Anyways I have a girlfriend so you know I'm not deprived like so many of you.

And that level is 'not getting laid'. :tongueout:

Jase has it the nail right on the head there.  Sorry, Jase, I didn't put your post in my reply but the jumping text thing gives me the pip.  I thought it was my computer.  I'm glad to know it's not.

I don't care about the alcohol thing either - ban it, don't ban it, makes no difference.  I don't drink it so I'm not affected.  I used to like it when I was younger but I haven't been able to handle it for a very long time, so I don't bother.  Australian culture is very much about how much can you drink and if you can drink lots, you're a legend.  Then all the glassing incidents started and it's a big furore now.  Glassing is when someone smashes a glass into your face instead just punching you like normal in a fight.  Women are doing it to each other now :buggedout:

I never felt like I belonged anywhere either.  I was convinced that other people knew what's going on and are members of a club that they didn't tell me about and wouldn't let me into anyway.  But this board is different.  You guys are absolute gems and I'm always cracking up laughing at the stuff you write.  Especially when you start paying out on either other and get so off topic I dont even remember what we were initially talking about.

Jase is right about one thing.  I love the attention - thank you :thumbup:  It makes me feel  a little less lonely and ignored by the world in general.  I always thought when I finally met "The One" as I have, I would feel less like I had to pretend to be someone else or not hide myself away from the world any more.  But that's not the case.  It's hard being in love with someone when you never see them and you always come last (even though it's not deliberate on their part).

So I come here to get a sense of community and friendship I don't seem to get anywhere else.  And if I ever met met you guys in real life, I would give you all a big hug and kiss for being so totally wonderful and making me feel like I'm not alone in the world.

Women need to feel appreciated by men, whether they admit or not.  It's the reason we wear sexy lingerie and do our hair and makeup and try to look attractive all the time.  It's all for the attention of men.  So when you guys appreciate us, we blossom and life makes sense and we feel good about ourselves.

So what if I'm not getting any?  I can take care of it myself (which, you know, is nice and all but I still prefer a warm body with me).  But in the meantime, I'll come here and laugh at everyone's posts and make a few outrageous ones of my own and get everybody talking and laughing and maybe the world won't seem so unkind and barren for a little while.  And maybe for a little while I'll forget that the man I love the most and who loves me the most isn't here when he's supposed to be because of crazy kids/stress/exhaustion/illness/whatever

With regards to alcohol KB, I'd never tell anyone else what they could or couldn't do. It's obviously a personal choice but I do believe alcholism and alcohol abuse is a serious problem on the rise. I do believe the world today would be better off without it but I know it's not going to disappear. Finding a way to reduce the problem is what society has to work towards.

KB, I think you deserve better than to be placed at second best or coming last. Just saying...it's your life to live.

If it's not alcohol, it's another drug. Legislation only drives the problems further underground, where help is less available to those who seek it, and creates a nightmare economic situation where both the supply and prosecution of such are dependent on it.

I'm not saying I have the solution Menard but I do think it's a growing problem and there are things not helping it like the behaviour of certain role models, etc. and the surprisingly easy availability of such things even to minors. Not sure what the answer is..more and better education? Working towards a more prosperous world for all? Perhaps like Flick James has suggested, if people want to go down that road, maybe we should made them pay for their own mess in the long term.

This ought to be controversial because I don't think anyone in here ever brought it up before:  What is the worst movie of all time?

The trouble is, you're always fighting against human nature.  I think its in our natures to destroy ourselves.  And if you make something taboo, that makes people want it even more.  The only thing you can do is slowly educate people to think that certain things aren't "cool".  Make them socially undesirable and you have real change.  Either that, or put all the self destructive people into a community of their own and give them all the vices they want (heavily govt regulated and taxed of course) and see how many of them get sick of that life and look for something better.

But I guess if you make something too mainstream, people will be looking for something outside the norm, some other way to destroy themselves.  I don't know what the solution is.  My brain hurts.  :bluesad:

Sorry, that exists in spades here already.

I don't know if such communities exist in Oz, but there are many small communities in this state, and I'm certain others, which have such a dependence on government payments that the status quo in such communities, those who run the local business and utilities, would prefer factories not open, as factories layoff and go out of business, but government checks are guaranteed.

People grow up in these communities with no greater goal than to get that government check. Drug use and drug trafficking is rife in these communities; and the agencies and police know it.

The sad thing is, they are not getting sick of it; that's all they know life to be, or all they think it can be.

With regard to alcohol use, at least in this country, alcohol related deaths and traffic fatalities are down. Decades ago we used to make jokes about alcoholics, drunk driving, and other things associated with alcohol use. I guess we woke up to it's not as funny anymore; jokes are still made, but certainly not as many, and any jokes or attempt at humor regarding drunk driving are taboo anymore. Now that's this country though.

Problems exist; but where problems exist, they usually exist because someone's making a profit from it.

You're absolutely right, Menard.  We have problems here with aboriginals in the remote communities with alcohol and domesic violence and drugs.  There's even been a big uproar over serious child sexual abuse and kids have been taken away from families.  They can't handle alcohol and many of the communities are "dry" communities.  That means even if you a visitor, if the cops catch you with booze, you are escorted out of the place.

It's a tragic situation and nobody seems to be able to find a suitable solution.  So they crack down on stuff but that doesn't seem to be helping either.

The biggest thing that concerns me about alcoholism and other drug abuse is that it often seems tied in with domestic violence and/or abuse at home. And then the victim unfortunately learns the same behaviour and sadly more oft than not, the cycle will continue...I've seen this happen again and again...families with a secret shame of alcoholism usually on the part of one parent or another leading to other forms of abuse in the household....

You are spot on Jase.  I, too, came from a violent, alcoholic, abusive household.  But I wanted better for myself and I never went that way, even though it was so easy just to let go and be like that.

But I suspect I'm in the minority that way.
