Netflix has this movie available on instant streaming so if you have Netflix, you'll definitely want to add this to your instant queue.

I loved this film!
If you're looking for a monster movie where people get eaten and lots of Michael Bay explosions, you're out of luck.  Matter of fact, you don't really get to see any of the monsters up close until almost the end of the movie.  When you finally do see them, especially in the last scene, they are something you won't soon forget.

Basically, the plot goes like this:
A space probe contacts alien life and crash lands in Mexico.  Creatures start appearing there and the entire area is quarantined and called the "Infected Zone".
American and Mexican military forces can be seen fighting them in the distance and we see close-ups of charred alien carcasses.
Enter Andrew Kaulder.  He's an American photographer stationed in Central America to shoot photos.  He is assigned by his boss to escort the boss's daughter Sam back to America.  They only have so much time to make it out or they will be stuck there for another six months.  Kaulder gets robbed and with no passports, they decide to take the risky route through the Infected Zone and try to make it back alive.

I thought this movie was exceptional in the way it built up the characters and tension.
The last scene where they stand there in awe looking at the creatures is literally jaw dropping.  Their sheer size combined with their eerie noises is at once both frightening and beautiful.

I highly recommend this movie and give it 4 stars out of 4 and a big

I guess my expectations were all wrong.  Don't get me wrong; it was OK, I just wasn't as wowed with it as you guys all seem to be.  Maybe I need to watch it again.
