Title: Sand Sharks (2011)
Post by: Swamp Thing on April 01, 2011, 10:26:34 PM
No trailer yet but I'm expecting a cheap SyFy Tremors-type clone. So I'm all for it!

I noticed the Snow Sharks and have to ask is this going to be year of the sharks?  There is a part of me that wants to see some really off the wall shark movies.  Seems like you have found a couple to keep an eye on watching.

Shark Night 3D, Bait 3D and Dark Tide sound great too. I'm like a shark movie connoisseur!

Well it has shark in the title and my unlimited love for all animals that kill in films, so count me in for this film as well.

This one will be on Syfy sometime this spring or summer.  The DVD is already out in region 2 so I bought it a couple of weeks ago since we'll be covering it on our 'Saturday B Movie Reel' podcast after it airs on Syfy.

It was pretty bad.  ;)

I don't have the ability to post links yet but the trailer is up on You Tube.

It's definately one to watch with friends because you're going to want to talk/complain about it as you watch it.  It rips off a certain well known shark movie from the mid 70s.

This is getting rather boring. Y'know, there are OTHER animals out there to use, Hollyweird!

I know!  On the plus side, more films for me to review.  Speaking of which, I should probably get back to doing that...

You know at this point, I would kill for a killer eel.  How many films involved those things?  Or better yet, a killer moth movie!  If the Resident Evil games can make killer moths, then so can the Skiffy channel!

There are killer eels in The Neptune Factor (http://www.badmovies.org/capsules/n/neptunef/), but I have to warn you that you will not be impressed.  Actually, wasn't "Razortooth" a SciFy movie?  That is a big killer eel film.

As for moths, wouldn't "Phantoms" (1998) qualify?  Probably the most memorable part of that film.

Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus (2010)
Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus (2009)
Sharks in Venice (2008)

Swamp Shark (2011)

We have a searchable database on our website that has all 200+ Syfy Original Movies since 2002...

It certainly looks like it could have been but it wasn't.

We need a good snake or bat movie. Sure, we have Anaconda, Bats (1999) or Nightwing and the like, but I said a GOOD snake or bat movie.
Sharks have Jaws.
Piranhas have PIranha.
Spiders have Kingdom of the Spiders.
Ants have Them! and Empire of the Ants.
Alligators/Crocodiles had Alligator (1980).
But snakes and bats haven't had a goodie yet.

What about Mega Python vs Gatoroid or Vipers for snakes?

The former, um, no.
Haven't seen Vipers, though.

It's a Syfy Original from 2008 with Tara Reid.  Had some good parts...

Sci-Fi original?
I'll pass.
The Reptile (1966) is alright, though.

I'm the guy who does the weekly podcast about the Syfy Original Movies so I'm going to tend to go with those more than most folks.   :teddyr:

It's not that good. It's less like a Tremors clone and more like a really bad knock-off of Jaws.

This one has the most pulled-from-the-ass method of defeating the monsters ever, and that's saying a lot for this grade of movie.

O-Kay...
Alligator Vs. Crocosaurus Vs. Mega Python Vs. Dinocrock Vs. Snow sharks Vs. Sharktopus Vs. Mega Shark Vs. Ice Spiders Vs. Sand Sharks Vs...Good grief! If you put all them together, you could spend all day!
Remember MST3K Turkey day?
Bwa-hahahahaha!...

Now I really wanted to see a movie where the earth is over run by all sorts of bad Cg monsters at the same time.  It could be like the Sy-Fy version of Destroy All Monsters.

Now we just have to come up with a legitimate cast of the best C-grade actors we can find to star in it!

SPOILER ALERT

The guy channeling Quint wants to lure them into a narrow, sandy inlet and then melt the sand into glass around them. They just need some way to get the sand hot enough. So, the sleazy guy produces a can of super-concentrated napalm. Why the hell does he have super napalm? Don't ask such silly questions! And the crazy old guy channeling Quint produces a flamethrower to shoot the stuff. Why does he have a flamethrower when he doesn't even have fuel for it?? Don't ask such silly questions!

And somehow, the flame melts the sand to a depth of twenty feet!

What?  People don't randomly have super napalm and flamethrowers were you live?

I want to see this one, but the DVD cost is still in the $20-$25 range.  These movies usually start out there and then after a few months the price falls to $10-$15.  Hopefully this will happen soon, because knowing how the movie ends is not helping me be patient.

Curse you, Ted C!

YES! That could rock...Oh, add the wee beasties from D-wars! And the giant octopus...and whatever else we can think of.
Sy-Fy Toho- awaaaaay!

Now, that's being very unfair to Snakes on a Plane.

I loved it. Bad movie gold as far as I'm concerned. From the ridiculous premise and cliche' characters to the home pc level CGI, this thing made me laugh out loud. I love the big rock concert with less than a dozen people in attendance. See this now!
