Title: RIO (2011)
Post by: ulthar on April 17, 2011, 07:43:12 AM
Saw RIO yesterday, and really enjoyed it.  In the world of CGI animation, Blue Sky remains a major player, due at least in part to their total mastery of lighting.

Jesse Eisenburg was the perfect voice casting choice for the Blue...his twitchy style matches the character and is exactly how you would expect him to talk if you could hear him.

THIS movie is how you put adult references in a children's movie (see my comments on RANGO)....the monkey coughing up his family jewels is a good example...adults get it, the children see something they can laugh at as well without getting the FULL scope of the joke.

No swearing, top notch animation, and engaging story that was not too cliche (there was one plot twist they COULD have done that I was dreading, but was so glad they didn't), in my opinion, RIO beats RANGO hands down for quality of the movie (as a family experience).  Because of that, though, I bet RANGO will remain the more popular choice.
