Title: WHY IS IT?
Post by: macabre on April 21, 2011, 02:58:53 PM
Why is it , whenever you are in a rush to go somewhere in your car every other driver refuses to travel more than 20mph?
Why is it that when you pick up an item that has the price clearly marked, the checkout assistant always seems to shout out the price in your face?

Why is it that no matter where i go i always seem to attract the local drunk?
I am sure you guys have many "why is it" moments,so go ahead and please share them.

Why is it that I always get surrounded by all the loud mouth idiots on the bus? Almost every day I have someone sat next to me who has to sit or talk across seats with some other idiot, then there's the passengers with kids who decide to spend the whole journey stood up on the seat facing me in the seat behind!

Why is it at my workplace, no other member of staff seems to have any urgency whatsoever to get things done on time? I'm constantly at the mercy of other people not sending me the right paperwork or updating the correct computer systems. It's always the same problems day after day, you just have to roll your eyes and get on with it.

I always seem to attract weird and mostly hostile people, and on the rare occasion I go to a bar, some lunatic has to try and talk me to death until I give them the response they desire or until their friends have had a right laugh at my expense...

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but it might be that target painted on your back.

why is it that there are trollers on the internet?

why is it that whenever I use an acne medicine, that it'll work fine, then I'll get a breakout?

Why is it that any place that sells food on the 'net had ridicules shipping, even if it's just being sent through the mail? I looked at some stuff from, Arizona Gunslingers and Tobasco, and both had shipping quotes that far exceeded the cost of the items. I mean really, $65 to ship 8 or 10 smallish bottles of hot-sauce to Alaska?

Why is it that so many potentially cool t-shirts are done so stupidly? Like these:

I;m making my own "Lark's Vomit" shirt. .

A few years ago, I had a forensic investigator friend/coworker and his birthday was coming soon.  I thought it would be cool to have a t-shirt made for him that 'captured' our work.  The shirt design I presented to the lady airbrush artist at the t-shirt shop was quite graphic...

And she refused to do it.

She was offended by my suggestion, and she was nearly in tears just talking to me.

But, to her credit, she said there was someone there who would do it and she put me in touch with him.

The shirt turned out incredibly cool ... better than I could have hoped ... and was a big hit with my buddy.

{just a t-shirt anecdote...not really relevant to anything...}

Why is it that when I'm out in public NOBODY talks to me until I wear my iPod earphones?  Some days I go for days without wearing them, but the minute I put them in, I always get people who talk to me.

Then I pull one earpiece out and I say "sorry?" and the person goes "Oops!" and stops talking to me.

DON'T THEY SEE THE WHITE CORDS HANGING FROM MY EARS???!!!!??????  Are they really that hard to see?

Sheesh!

That always happens to me too. I also get people coming over and talking to me when I'm trying to read a book on my lunchbreak. They always ask "oh what are you reading? Is it any good?" and I get real sarcastic and say "I'm not reading anything because I'm talking to you" or "Let me finish it, then I'll tell you if it's any good".

Why is it that, the minute you get comfortably settled in front of the TV,your spouse urgently requires your presence in the other end of the house?

My particular bugbear is people who go onto "help" discussion boards and post useful comments like:
1) Because Hondas suck dude.
2) What areyou writing from 2005? Those specs suck and that software is ancient.
3) Its a lame A$$ game anyway, go buy an xBox.

What waste everyone's time not being helpful?

Why is it foul weather always brings out multitudes of the most inept drivers?

I can marginally empathize with with the morons on my 12 who won't let me pass (within reason, just keep proper breaking distance), but I just don't get those maniacs on my 6. It's not like I'm going anywhere.

Same here about the drunk.. not always an "attract" as in romantic pursuit (yeck) but just someone wanting to talk to me or bother me for no reason.  Had an annoying one last night bug me.

Why is it everyone else's pants wear out in the knees, & mine always wear out in the crotch?

Mine do too. I'm lazy as well, so I'm still going to work in pants that have a tear in that region. I just hope it doesn't get any bigger!  :buggedout:

My wife's banned me from going to work in any of the (many) sweaters I have with holes in the armpits. Just when you get something worn-in and comfortable, suddenly you're not allowed to wear it anymore.

My jeans always wear out in the butt near the pockets...

I've had drunks in the past decide to come chatting with me too. That said, I prefer the over friendly drunk who call you "their best friend ever" over the ones who want to fight...

I too find that when you're busy or engaged in something like reading a book, watching TV or listening to music, someone inevitably interrupts you and demands your attention.

Why is it my ideas always suck, until a couple of meetings later when somebody else comes up with the exact same idea?

Why is it that some dudes will slow down in their cars to make cat calls and whistle, but won't actually come to a complete stop so I can cross the street?

Why is it my mom couldn't have just called me to tell me that somebody complained about my lawn?
And why is it she didn't bother to call & tell me she was coming over with her own mower while I was out?

Jeez! A little communication would've helped, & I'd have taken care of this.
Instead, I've now got this big *&!% guilt trip to deal with, & some stranger coming around. :hatred:

Why is it, you create an open access calendar for your organization, then suddenly everybody else decides to make a completely different one about the exact same thing, then poopoo the idea of pooling these calendars, only to wonder why the turnout aint so good, leaving them asking everyone "Why weren't you at last night's meeting?"

And Why is it, you go to an office training seminar, sit through a boring, rambling & confusing lecture, then get to the practice portion, only to have a couple folks fire up a loud conversation about something irrelevant, thus drowning out the conversation that the trainer & the trainee are trying to have? (I have ADHD, so this is a HUGE disruption for me.)

I always wear out the ends of my jeans.
speaking of which

Why is it that whenever I'm trying to look for good pants, they never have the ones I want. I want some pants that is long, but just below the knees.

I must admit that I am not an expert on the American vernacular, but if they only come to just below the knee do they qualify as pants? Surely these are shorts?

Why is it that as soon as the warranty runs out, or insurance the F****ng item breaks.
Due to my sons disabilities he requires a special bath, this bath cost us over £4000 to buy and have it installed.
The bath not only elevates but it tilts and it also has a spa system for my son.
This morning i was about to bathe my son when halfway through elevation it stopped,i looked at it and swore but to no avail.
I tried to fix it but it was beyond me,no problem i shall call out Astor Bannerman and get it fixed, checked the warranty for the number and realised that the warranty had run out last month,i phoned them to be told that they would not come out untill i renewed my warranty, the quote they gave me ,  £1,200 for a full years insurance.I shall struggle to bathe my son for a while whilst i get over the shock. I am sure you guys have had similar problems...

Why is it every other country in the world gets all the decent cheap single cylinder  motorbikes, while we Americans are stuck with the flimsy kind or the expensive kind?
