Title: NBC passes on Wonder Woman
Post by: InformationGeek on May 13, 2011, 03:21:31 PM
I've been following this story since everyone's reactions to the script and to what looks like the end of it now.  Looks like it could be the end of Wonder Woman before it even began.  Despite most likely being a train wreck, I would have been to curious see how it turned out in the end.

Oh well, in the end, we may have dodged a bullet.

Or, a whole hail of bullets. Still, it makes me wonder how bad it was, if even NBC passed on it. NBC needing all the help it can get, as--of all the major networks out there--it seemingly has the lowest ratings, except for the CW Television Network.

And with David E. Kelley producing, and Cary Elwes and Elizabeth Hurley starring, it did seem to have a good pedigree behind it.

Better luck next time for all involved.

If what I read about it was correct, then all I have to say is .

They had it sounding like Ally McBeal with a superhero tilt.  I would rather see someone who actually knows how to write a good superhero story, preferably someone who's an actual Wonder Woman fan, create a WW series.

They would have just made her into some chick with powers, but she doesn't like to use them in case she ruins her clothes from GAP or it interferes with her career as a journalist....Ya know, like sex in the city or something, except with some mild violence and a DC logo slapped on the credits.

Ever since I discovered the internet about ten years ago, the story I keep hearing, is that various producers & directors haven't been able to find a strong enough actress able to fill-out the uniform who's also willing to, thus they keep trying to come up with some modest costume & storyline that just doesn't sit well with fans.
