Title: Viral Marketing
Post by: dean on May 17, 2011, 09:40:45 PM
New age media has really started to kick off some awesome ads that get 'leaked' on youtube to try and get support for a product.  Classic examples of late are the Old Spice ads which really got popular through youtube and video sharing rather than conventional media.

Sometimes this can be great, as some of these viral ads don't need to go through as many hoops, standards-wise, resulting in some funny, albeit non-pc ads. Sometimes it's just pathetic and clearly an attempt to woo the new age market.

I figure we need a thread devoted to ads which pretend not to be ads, or we suspect of being ads, or are just funny and are overtly ads!

For example:

Is it fake? [yes it is] Is it just somebody having fun with the edit?  Well probably not, since that would take a bit to put together. So this must be an ad, which I assume is from Gillette.  But it pretends to be real life.

Still its a pretty cool clip.

What are some of your favourite/most hated attempts at Viral Marketing?
