Just saw some old "Showtime After Hours" bumpers and got to thinking we should have a thread where we could reminisce on some of the softcore movies we remember seeing on cable back in the day. 
For the uninitiated, softcore is like a hard "R" rating with copious sex, nudity and adult theme, intended for "mature audiences".  Numerous European flicks with this content were shown late at night and early into the morning, way after kids were SUPPOSED to be in bed asleep. :)

I've always been trying to remember this softcore flick about these two chicks (who were in a few films together and possibly some playboy tv shows), who go on some sort of road trip, screw some bikers and end up at some swanky house with a pool and a steamroom having an orgy. Would have been mid-90s. :question:

The first time I learned to program a VCR was because of Skinemax and Showtime. The plan was simple, check the TVguide for listings after 10PM, after dinner I pull a mission impossible style programing of the VCR and put that sucker on EP. Go to bed and wake up the next morning to retrieve the goodies. My first movie I saw like that was an Italian skin flick called "The Best"starring the beautiful Gloria Guida. The Italian name is Ragazza alla Pari. I highly recommend it because not only is Gloria smokin' hot in it but the movie is unbelievably funny.

I haven't heard of Sweet Sugar before but it seems awfully similar to all the women in prison films of the 70s and early 80s.  I remember Big Doll House being perhaps my favorite of the ones I had seen (which weren't many).  I kind of remember seeing The Best in the cable listings way back when.  I remember seeing Fanny Hill, Seduction of Inga and Hardcore (with Fiona Richmond) among a whole slew of Euro films I don't know the name of.  One of which was something about a cruise ship where women (I think) created some sort of potency drug and all the men got a hold on it and chased all the women around trying to "get some relief".  And another one where this goofy little middle-aged man (a secondary character) has sex with this ENORMOUSLY FAT woman at the very end.  I think the more prominent characters (attractive women) were laughing at him.  And I saw Joan Collins in a couple flicks: THE STUD and THE B*TCH.  One more was some movie called something like Getting On Top (or something) where some gal was either in the movie or music business and to get to the top, she naturally had to screw her way there.  She had a 3-way with 2 guys in one scene.

On Friday nights in the late 1970s or early 80s, one of those channels had Kung Fu Theater (they would show 2 martial arts movies), followed by teen titty-flop movies like H.O.T.S.

I remember many in the 90's.  Mostly Showtime (was free in most apartment complexes in Lawton).  I also remember being 13 and watching the scrambled channels.  Mostly, I remember a lot of Marilyn Chambers and like Bikini clad cave girl movies.   I also remember the old Showtime Sherman Oaks series.  I miss that at times. 

When I was 13-14 I used to actually set my alarm to go off in the middle of the night so I could sneak out to the living room and watch some Showtime After Hours with the sound turned way down.

Like RC that's where I first saw SWEET SUGAR... yes, it's a women-in-prison movie.  Still remember the scene where the guy stuck the hot gun barrel into the front of Phyllis Davis' daisy dukes---subtle!

I've never seen either, but the plot of Lunch Wagon sounds similar to a hardcore flick from the 70's called Chopstix.  The voiceover for the trailer happily says, "Chopstix - The Motion Picture.  The movie that changed the eating habits of America!"

When I was in grade school I stumbled upon one of the Lady Chatterley films......

I remember in one scene someone, I wanna say Lady Chatterley, said if they wanna talk let's give them something to talk about. In the next scene at least 30 people were naked on the side of a street. Also Lady Chatterley convinced someone to drop out of cerminary school.

I remember a few of these. There's one that sticks in my mind, but I can't remember the name. It was set in New York (though it was all in a studio in, I think, Denmark). It was a comedy about a photographer whose kid brother came to visit. He's an erotic photographer, and his kid brother immediately starts trying to do the same. The building where they live is some kind of artist's haven. I remember one lady is getting a body cast in plaster, only the artist gets the plaster formula wrong, so she is stuck in the cast for most of the movie, finally breaking out and doing a naked dance to celebrate. The kid brother films an erotic music video of supposedly the "next big group," which is finally shown at the climax ( :lookingup:) of the movie. Lots of nudity, not much sex. Anybody else remember the name of this one?

The late 70's and early 80's had these subscription services that competing with cable, like ONTV and SelecTV. My parents had SelecTV. It was just a single subscription channel that would run movies that weren't available for syndication yet, some specials and concert events, and such. SelecTV had this thing called Nightowl Theatre, which I would sometimes sneak in when I could.

I remember the old Lady Chatterly and Emmanuelle movies, sure. And a bunch of other I don't remember the names of.

There was one that was some kind of spoof of The Love Boat, where a couple of guys disguise themselves as women and get on board a females-only cruise ship, and you can ony guess where it goes from there. In the thrilling climax (pun intended), they managed to justify a late 70's/early 80's cruise ship being invaded by a band of 18-century-looking pirates, and sexual chaos ensues.

I remember way back when seeing some movie called "The Sex Boat" in the late '70s/early '80s cable listings, which probably was a Euro-softcore flick under an alternate title.

How funny. I looked it up and that is indeed the movie.

There was a movie called "Lap Dancing" that was a "Showgirls" knock off. It had Tawny Mclure (ex-wife of Jouney's keyboardist) and Lorissa McComas (porn star). I also remember a british movie called "The Rachel Paper's."  This kid who look's like Mick Jagger ends up banging a hot American girl played by a very young Ione Skye. She was naked and in a ton of sex scenes, good stuff.

I recall going through puberty putting a VHS tape in on the TV my parents never used and letting it record Showtime until the late hours.  When I got up the next morning it was a fast forward fest to find the nudies scenes in the movies.  Spank material is much too easy for today's generation to come by. 

I still remember this one Skinemax movie that aired in 1989 or 1990 in which there was a female prison and female prisoners cleaning up debris on the side of a highway and then a make guard or two has sex with a few in the bathroom, bus and van. Does anybody know what this movie title is? I also remember a pilot and chick get it on in either a hotel bathroom or airplane bathroom. I thought it was one of the Red Shoe Diary episodes but I can't find it, it would have aired in the mid 90s.

What was the movie about a man married to a woman named "Heather"? He told Heather to "com on" when they were doing it and she replied "what do you want me to do howl at the moon"? The man went on to cheat with some blonde.

Too young to have experienced this but still not to old to understand that the internet helps us younger people with missing out like this. I however remember staying up late as a kid cause it was school break. To giggle at the sex chat hotline adds. Along with the "Got a drinking problem call someone" type adds... Marketing.

I must say this is perhaps one of the best threads I have seen in many a day. I am wondering if anyone remembers a softcore european period film (probably 19th century) about a mixed race girl (possibly french creole) who gets her freedom and has several sexual escapades mostly with women, including one very beautiful scene  on a beach where she and a very beautiful white girl make love and then retire to the bedroom. The film came on a few times on skinemax but I was never able to see it from the beginning.  Much thanks to anyone who knows what it is I am talking about.

Let's see if the hivemind can put a title to my half-remembered Skinemax mystery movie.

It was more or less a comedy about three friends (jock, nerd, and "regular guy"). Each of them meets his own ideal woman (sporty for the jock; glasses and books for the nerd, etc.), and the movie follows the three guys as each pursues his dream girl. However, because all three girls are named Lauren, the guys start thinking that she's the same woman, which drives most of the humor. As I remember, there was at least one sex scene on a bearskin rug in front of a fire and another involving chocolate syrup.

Oh, and I forgot to mention. Probably saw it sometime between 1993-1995.

Has anybody in here ever subscribed to Playboy TV? When my family got our first bonafide cable TV subscription in 1986, we were treated to a month of every movie channel including the Playboy channel for free courtesy of the cable company, just for being new subscribers. Needless to say, when my folks weren't home or were asleep, I was sneaking out into the living room late at night just so I could catch the late night skin flicks!  :cheers:

Three Daughters (1986), one of the Candida Royalle movies, was one that I remember most fondly. I was still barely past puberty, but I could still appreciate the then-mid 40s Gloria Leonard who was still in her sexual prime. Some of the stuff that she did in this film really taught me a lot about what turned women on.  :hot:

Trying to recall a skinemax movie title

It had to be showing between the years of 1985-1996
I'm guessing some where near the beginning or middle of that tame

The story is about a wavy hair blonde guy who I think he house sits in this ca mansion or something
He is visited by an amazing busty brunette that could be Latina or Italian, she is probably the hottest skinemax actress I remember but never knew her name
They get hot and heavy in many rooms, maybe even the pool
There are some intense dream sequences with curtains blowing in the wind, he pours some marbles or smooth rocks on her, and towards the end of the movie I think he accidentally strangles her in a dream but wakes up ding that in real life

I was wondering what movie that was where the 18 or 19 year old girl couldn't sleep because of the noise her mother made while her mother's bf did 'er. Then there are a few scenes that suggest that the couple isn't exactly in love but are just kind of together is that house.

The girl has a bf who she isn't giving it up to and her mother's bf isn't sure so he asks her in her room point blank, twice, which leads to him jumping on it much to her pleasure. The mother hears them and runs in and stabs him several times.

I get high budget porn on one of my tv stations now. Pretty much all Wicked Pictures stuff. Needless to say I find them insulting to my manliness to the point where they make me actively angry. Ah well, there's always good ole Madthumbs.  :tongueout:

I just learned that Cinemax On Demand has stopped showing softporn cable programming three days ago.  Will the same go for HBO On Demand and The Movie Channel On Demand sometime in the future?

I vaguely remember something called Taxi Cab Confessions from when I really little on HBO.

I didn't have any of those channels.  or I wasn't supposed to.  Sometimes one of them would kinda sorta come in partially blurred and staticy. 

For the most part though, I relied on USA Up All Night for my skin flicks (with the added bonus of a lot of bad comedy to go with them.) 

It's really cool to hear the almost universal experiences of people across the world sneaking downstairs late at night to watch adult things on TV.  I'm very impressed by the guerilla antics some of you got up to, setting time record late at night and retrieving the tape early in the morning!

In Australia, hard porn showing insertion is illegal in general; hardcore material can only be sold in registered outlets (R Restricted rated) with closed doors and signs outside saying it is restricted, or in Queensland, where a lot of thing are legal, it seems.

Pay TV didn't exist in Australia until the mid 90's with the advent of Galaxy and Foxtel, and Foxtel has become the dominant (sole?) pay TV provider.  Other stations with international programming exist and are available by satellite, but most pay landline TV comes via Foxtel.

Foxtel didn't have adult entertainment until some years after the network went on air; the closest thing was World Movies, which sometimes screened more erotic or adult foreign films, and Foxtel marketing really hyped the adult nature of these things.  They showed a few softcore Category III Hong Kong movies like Erotic Ghost Story (1987) and Sex and Zen (1991), as well as Cat III action movies like Naked Weapon (2002). The government station Special Broadcasting Service SBS also had a number of largely uncut foreign movies, which was pretty cool.  It was not until about 2000 that Foxtel offered a softcore channel called Nightmoves, and that was available only by direct subscription.

During the late 90's, commercial stations like Channel 7 and 9 showed a series of horror and erotic/adult films late at night.  While we never got to see the vast plethora of softcore romps from Europe and Italy, we did get a range of American adult drama films like Wild Orchid, The Red Shoe Diaries, Two Moon Junction and Return To Two Moon Junction.

On a trip to America in 1988, I saw some pay TV adult channels which had some cool European softcore films.  I ended up watching a couple and ringing up a bill, haha.  One was set in an earlier time in Europe, and it seemed to involve milkmaids and a scene of gratuitous toe sucking, from what I remember.  Fun days.
