Title: Silverchair disband Post by: Joe the Destroyer on May 26, 2011, 03:59:40 PM http://www.antimusic.com/news/11/may/26Silverchair_Break_Up.shtml
Cry/rejoice. I thought they weren't bad, had some decent stuff, had some meh stuff. I'm surprised it took them this long. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heQi0AZBH-0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScfXgdawucU Title: Re: Silverchair disband Post by: Psycho Circus on May 26, 2011, 04:02:13 PM Heh, I thought they broke up over a decade ago!
Title: Re: Silverchair disband Post by: Mofo Rising on May 26, 2011, 04:57:27 PM Well, we can all rest easy knowing that Hanson is still out there making music.

Title: Re: Silverchair disband Post by: claws on May 26, 2011, 11:04:31 PM I bought their first album back in 1996 and wasn't very impressed. They sounded like an uninspired mix between Pearl Jam and Nirvana/Soundgarden/whatever.
I assumed they split up in the early 2000s. Guess I was wrong. Title: Re: Silverchair disband Post by: RCMerchant on May 27, 2011, 05:12:18 PM Don't bother me. Run of the mill band who rode the shirtails of better bands. Blah.
Title: Re: Silverchair disband Post by: Umaril The Unfeathered on May 27, 2011, 05:26:32 PM Heh, I thought they broke up over a decade ago! Same here. Anyhow, I can see (and hear) the influence Nirvana had on this band, and while I'm not really a fan of this kind of music, I do admit liking the song Tomorrow. In the bigger picture, it's nothing more than another band sailing off into history.... Title: Re: Silverchair disband Post by: dean on May 27, 2011, 11:26:50 PM Daniel Johns, the lead guiatarist, had bad arthritis in his hands so they stopped playing for a while, then they came back in 2007 and released a new album, of which the single "Straight Lines" became a huge hit here, and was a departure from the grunge they previously released. Its more of a mainstream track, but its a good song nonetheless. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47P3bzefCVI That being said, I only like a few of their songs, but I'm not surprised they have gone on 'indefinite hiatus.' Title: Re: Silverchair disband Post by: Pilgermann on May 28, 2011, 02:26:54 AM They did start to go far away from their grunge sound and I think they collaborated with Van Dyke Parks on their last 2 albums which certainly helped. Can't say I was a big fan or anything but I liked some of their music.

Yep me too. They were kind of part of the second wave grunge scene with bands like STP, Candlebox, etc. I'm not a big fan but I do like this song (already posted by Joe above). I relate to it for obvious reasons. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScfXgdawucU |
