Quote
Singer Amy Winehouse, 27, has been found dead at her north London home.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed that a 27-year-old woman had died in Camden and that the cause of death was as yet unexplained.

London Ambulance Service said it had been called to the flat at 1554 BST and sent two vehicles but the woman died.

I guess it's not terribly shocking at this point, but it's still sad that she wasn't able to overcome her addictions, which I'm asssuming are related to her death.

EDIT: I just saw that CheezeFlix (welcome back!) already posted about this in the Entertainment section.

I guess she should have gone to rehab.

Good night Amy.  May you finally find peace.

Also interesting to note, she was 27 years old.  That makes her officially part of the 27 Club.  While nowhere near as influencial as everyone else, she is now apart of them.

Not surprised, another talent wasted.  RIP

Hmmm... time will tell.  AMY WINEHOUSE was an enormous talent with two awesome records to her credit.  In her short life, the world quickly began to overlook the fact of her talent because of her train-wreck of a life.  In time, her influence will be recognized.  We lost an important artist.
Good night, AMY, may you sleep well.

You bring up a good point, AHD.

It seems to be an unwritten rule that short and sweet is the normal lifespan for some artists.  The industry needs to look out more for it's up-and-coming stars as well as the longtime stars.

I've always felt that there should be a "moral clause" in the contracts of recording artists, that makes drug-alcohol rehab mandatory, if they admit they need it, or the evidence is overwhelming.

Musicians are people too, and not just moneymakers for the record execs. I think it's high time the big companies start getting more actively involved in the lives of their artists and stand behind them more before these tragedies occur.

Easier said than done though, I guess.  :bluesad:

RIP, she's off to join club 27. Shame she's only left behind two records.

I'm hoping there's enough in the can for a third.  She was a huge talent, make no mistake, you will see her reputation grow now that she's joined "the club," but it would, nonetheless.  Her loss is tragic.  I am sad thinking about how great her two records are.   :bluesad:  Only stubborn cynics will fail to become fans only if they aren't already.  She was a truly great artist and is a major loss, and that ain't hype; in my view, the most significant recording artist of the 21st century.

RIP, I'd never heard her music before, but of course I had to look some of it up and I actually really liked even if it wasn't what I usually listen too. She defiantly had some talent.
