Here is one that has plagued me for years!  All I remember is it started with a young girl being chased in a dark tunnel/passage by ghosts or something and the she ends up falling down into a well or a hole. There is also an old abandoned house (out west??) that was supposedly haunted and had someting to do with this girls ghost. The plot had something to do with whitewater rafting group (I think...?)  of people that stumbled on to thieves that had something to do with a gold smuggling operation in the town or at this house. I also remember towards the end of a movie, a secret passage is discovered that had something to do with a fireplace and these kids followed this path and they found the hole. The hole had the girls remains and some gold..

The only thing else I could find on this was from an old AOL Answers page that someone else was asking for the same move.  Their post said:

"...this is an early to mid 80's movie.An old man is telling two young children the story of this mansion. The family that had lived there[probably late 1800's or early 1900's] were in danger from some men on horses and their little girl went down a secret passage in the fireplace and under the house to hide. I think they killed the rest of them and found where she was. She was running under the house and fell in a well or hole and died.That is really all that I can remember. I need to know the name of it..."

I was directed to this site to ask you guys!  What say you, anyone know this movie title???

Thanks!  Sadly it wasn't Scream (1981).  I don't know if it makes any difference, but my sister said she thought it was Disney/Walt Disney Presents or something like a made for TV movie.  It wasn't all too graphic from what I can remember...

that's why I put ??? in the answer... I did seen Scream 1981 last year and dont recall half the stuff you mention... :)

It might be a pilot of a TV show or a Episode from Goosebumps, Amazing Stories, or something similar... :)

Foudn it!  After pouring over endless threads and dead links, I found one that contained the name of the movie:  Mystery Mansion
