I thought only us backward Americans did stuff like this.

That article doesn't give much information about the comics that were considered child pornography, but maybe they did indeed depict children in a pornograpic way.  I'm assuming Canadian child pornography laws include illustrations.

He probably had some lolicon images on his computer.  I don't think illustrated pornography of any kind, especially illustrations as freakishly unrealistic as most manga, should be criminalized.  I'm not losing any sleep over a guy beating it to drawings and I'd rather my tax dollars didn't go toward prosecuting him for it.
