Title: Thank you, Captain Obvious!
Post by: Olivia Bauer on October 07, 2011, 08:58:56 AM
I want a list of film quotes where someone states something so incredibly obvious you smack your head and say "DOY!"

PLAN 9 has a ton of them.  Here's the most "obvious":

"Inspector Clay is dead — murdered — and somebody's responsible!"

Probably the most famous example:

"I don't think we're in Kansas anymore, Toto!"

"Bride of The Monster" has one. This is not verbatim, but it goes something like this.

Captain Robbins: Did you find anything?
L.t. Craig: Nothing.
Captain Robbins: And nothing this time too.

There is kind of a jump edit before the captain replies, it's almost as if the scene was shot twice with alternate dialogue, and then badly edited.
The result is a very redundant reply from Captain Robbins.

I like "Future events like this will effect you in the future!"

Drat, got to it before I did, Burgo.
Oh, the unintended joy that is PLAN 9.  :bouncegiggle:

Two classics we all know and love:

"It's a trap!"

"He choose... poorly."

Also from The Last Airbender:

Haru: Dad! (to the Aang) This is my father.

In every "Super Friends" the characters explain down to the last detail everything they are about do.
Typical episode:

Wonder Woman: I'll use my magic lasso (While using magic lasso).
Superman: My heat vision should do the trick (Superman uses heat vision).
Batman: Robin and I will use the Batcopter (and surprise, surprise they use the Batcopter).

How about the hundreds or thousands of movies where there's a villain or natural disaster looming in the distance and someone says, "Run!" or "We gotta get out of here!"

there's this really bad horror film called Steel Trap

at one point some guy goes "The phones are down...what does this mean?" and the girl replies "It means we can't use the phones", but not in a sarcastic way.

In the movie Tiger Joe, an aeroplane crashes and David Warbeck says: "He crashed! Come on!"  :tongueout:

Not unlike every anime in which a pilot must shout out the name of every weapon he uses.
