Having to run home at 4:30, eat and get the kids ready is kind of a hassle. And I love Halloween. Still, I'd say leave it as it is. People commonly work weekends in our society and honestly I can't see Halloween any other date than Oct. 31.

I enjoy having a few adult refreshments and a bit of a horror movie marathon on Halloween night, which isn't too practical when you have to go to work the next day.

It's recognition of the spirit world predates such a notion, but its where it got its name. The date is earlier but the name is an appropriation. October 31 is the date, no other.

The whole point of celebrating on oct 31 is that its the one night when the veil between the worlds is thinnest, and the spirits of the living and the dead co-exist. Reguardless of whether you believe that or find it ridiculous, changing the date defeats the purpose.
