Not sure I support the possibility a crystal clear, vibrant restored print of this movie. I like the muddy, cruddy look of MANOS. It's part of the film's (very limited and specialized) appeal. I don't know if anyone has checked the site recently but they've more than met their goal of $10,000. They have pledges totalling $22,053! They should be able to afford to produce some extras for the Blu-ray/DVD and maybe a 35mm preservation negative. I might chip in a few bucks so I can get a pin or t-shirt. Title: Re: Manos, restored? Still an awful film, but it's a memorably awful film for the story behind it if nothing else. There are less deserving films already on Bluray.

There's also an interview from last March about the Taxi Driver restortation here (http://thedigitalbits.com/articles/taxidriver/interview.html) and it's mentioned that Lawrence of Arabia was currently going through a full restoration, scanned at 8K (more than 4 times the resolution of Blu-ray but they'll use the same materials for theatrical presentations and whatnot) and would probably take a year, so it seems like they're on track! Post by: Torgo on January 23, 2012, 08:41:17 PM They ought to do a blu-ray/DVD combo special edition in which you get a fully restored HD version of the film on blu and then the normal crappy looking version that we all know and love on the DVD. Or, I guess they could just put both on the blu-ray itself and then give you the option on the main menu or something.
