Title: 1980s japanese animated? dinasaur movie. articulted train w/ tank treads?
Post by: mhgambrell1983 on November 27, 2011, 12:59:36 AM
been searching the web high and low for a childhood movie from the 80s that i made my mom rent dozens of times from a local Curtis Mathes. any help would be greatly appreciated!

the only things i can remember about the film is the star trek likeness of a military/space crew that was on an articulated all-terrain train that had tank treads and could go anywhere. i believe their uniforms were blue "speed racer" like. dinosaurs were involved im pretty sure maybe not i was 3-4 yrs old at the time.

kinda reminds me of "dinosaur train" but its not.

i even tracked down the owner of the local Curtis Mathes with zero luck

Could be Return of the Dinosaurs.  It was animated characters with live-action vehicles and dinosaurs.  It was about people capturing dinosaurs that had returned to life somehow.  They had a couple or three vehicles, one had tank treads.  Their uniforms were blue like you remember.  It was fairly common in video stores in the VHS days.

From what I know there are three or four "films" like this, all edited together from a series from the late 70s?  Akiratubo, you probably have more a knowledge of the background than I do.  The main one I know of is "Attack of the Supermonsters" which has been reviewed:

There's some further background on the series in the review's comments.
