My top five, in no particular order.

Quentin Tarantino
Alfred Hitchcock
Wes Craven
Eli Roth (Also known as The bear Jew)
And Tim Burton

I probably have over looked some directors, I know there are others whose name's I can't remember. But Quentin Tarantino is deffinatly my favorite director off all time. And the rest mentioned were mentioned for their own reasons.

Ennio Morricone
Bernard Hermann
John Barry
Nino Rota
Philip Glass

Sergei Prokofiev was more talented than any of the above, but he only wrote 3 film scores and "Lt. Kije" was the only one that was any good.

Neil Young should also be in this thread, even if it's just for his 'Dead Man' soundtrack.
