Title: The Pirates! Band of Misfits Trailer is Found Offensive to Lepers
Post by: InformationGeek on January 25, 2012, 09:18:44 PM
A one off joke in the trailer for the latest film from Aardman Animation (The guys behind Arthur Christmas and the Wallace & Gromit series) has gotten these guys into some trouble.

Care to weigh in on the matter?

Eh, I can see where they're coming from since leprosy is a terrible disease that is consistently misrepresented (often for the sake of a joke), but I think I would let that one slide. Pirate movies are already pretty divorced from reality in that they make old-timey pirates look like lovable rogues who have awesome adventures at sea, rather than rapists, murderers, thieves and just plain unlucky people who regularly faced starvation and disease while enduring all the fun that comes with being stuck with a bunch of people you may not like in a small space you can't escape from for potentially months at a time.
