Title: Rip-Off Month Post by: Olivia Bauer on January 31, 2012, 12:30:50 AM I didn't finish the movie I'm supposed to review but I'll try to do it Tuesday.
I'm going to change up my schedule a bit. Reviews will now be done at 8:00 PM on Saturday nights. Central standard time as usual. However I've decided for just about no real reason that February is going to be... RIP-OFF MONTH For all Saturday night reviews I request that your picks for bad movies to review be terrible rip-offs of other movies. I don't know why I just want to try something like that. Title: Re: Rip-Off Month Post by: InformationGeek on January 31, 2012, 01:23:02 PM Transmorphers? Hell, why stop there with just one suggestion from that company? Pick any film from The Asylum. I garantee you that you can fill up this month in no time with their films! Title: Re: Rip-Off Month Post by: major jay on January 31, 2012, 02:22:05 PM 2019: AFTER THE FALL OF NEW YORK
This one rips off, at least, four movies. ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK MAD MAX II PLANET OF THE APES STAR WARS Title: Re: Rip-Off Month Post by: Chainsawmidget on January 31, 2012, 02:26:00 PM Transmorphers? It is a complete and utter rip off in the story department of Casablanca. Title: Re: Rip-Off Month Post by: JaseSF on January 31, 2012, 08:27:26 PM There's been lots of Conan, Road Warrior, Star Wars and Alien rip-offs - Sorceress, Warriors of the Wasteland (AKA: The New Barbarians), Battle Beyond the Stars and Creature just to name one of each.
Technically The Terminator films and Dark City borrow from old "Outer Limits" episodes too - "Demon with a Glass Hand", "Soldier", "The Man Who Was Never Born" and "A Feasibility Study". Even Alan Moore's "Watchmen" rips off "The Architects of Fear" but that series is full of ideas I've seen borrowed time and again since. Title: Re: Rip-Off Month Post by: Pacman000 on February 06, 2012, 10:57:40 AM How about Warning from Space?
It starts off as a generic 50's alien invasion film, spends a brief amount of time as an Invasion of the Body Snatchers rip-off, then becomes a Asteroid-on-collision-course-with-earth movie, with a bit of The Day the Earth Stood Still thrown in for good measure. Title: Re: Rip-Off Month Post by: Pacman000 on February 08, 2012, 01:55:41 PM More Invasion of the Body Snatchers clones:
It Conquered The World (you know, the movie with the cucumber/mushroom monster?) Zontar, The Thing From Venus (a remake of the above) The Beast With A Million Eyes (early AIP/ARC movie, actually all of these movies were distributed by American International) Title: Re: Rip-Off Month Post by: diamondwaspvenom on February 13, 2012, 08:44:25 AM Killer Crocodile (Jaws Knock-Off)
Ator the Invincible (Conan the Barbarian Knock-Off) Ghoulies (Gremlins Knock-Off) Title: Re: Rip-Off Month Post by: InformationGeek on February 14, 2012, 04:01:48 PM Here's one for you that I forgot to add in: Grizzly, a rip off of Jaws!
