Title: DREAM HOUSE (2011)
Post by: indianasmith on February 12, 2012, 01:31:14 AM
I watched this one with my daughters tonight and was very, very impressed.
Daniel Craig plays the lead role of Will Attenton, a wealthy magazine editor who retires from his job early in order to spend more time with his wife and daughters and write the book he has always planned.  They have just moved into
a beautiful suburban home, and their life seems idyllic.
But who is the mysterious figure lurking on their property at night?  Why do local teenagers sneak into their basement on dares?  And why with the police not help Will catch the lurker, when his wife Libby and two small daughters are being terrorized nightly?  And what about the murders that happened there before they moved in?

This is a taut thriller, part ghost story, part whodunnit, that reserves the final twist for the last moments.  I highly recommend it!

I saw it and thought it was decent. I thought the "twist" was so obvious, however, that I didn't really think it was intended to be a "twist 'till the very end" kind of thing. That was my perception anyway. I would give it maybe a 3.5/5, decent, watchable, but not great.

Daniel Craig, however, continues to intrigue me as an actor. I don't think he is a truly gifted actor or anything, he just has a presence about him that is similar to people like Clint Eastwood or Sean Connery.

I saw the trailer and then I read something about where apparently the big twist was revealed in that trailer.  Dammit!  I hate that when it happens.  Now I got to wait until I forgot to see this film.
