Title: Road House
Post by: Andrew on February 14, 2012, 08:42:47 AM
Patrick Swayze is a bouncer/philosopher who teachers the bouncers of the Double Deuce the ancient art of bouncing, saves the town from a corrupt businessman, and falls in love with a female doctor who does a lot more than kiss on the second date.

Chris Lata (voice of cobra commander and starscream) also has a cameo in the beginning of the movie. Hat trick.

Coincidentally, Ben Gazzara (aka. the evil Brad Wesley) died last week ... well, he died on February 3rd 2012.

I wouldn't have even known who he was outside of Road House (a sad commentary on my movie viewing habits).

Not to surprise anyone but Road House was left off his page-long obit in the New York Times.

Never thought I'd see the day Road House was reviewed on here.

I always figured it would be Road House 2.

Speaking of which, hey Andrew!  You going to review that one?

I really liked that movie, its great, full of action, bad ass guys, Terry Funk, Patrick Swayze and Sam Eliott. Great martial arts fights, great action.

This movie had Prestopopnick in it! (Look it up.)

I will always remember this movie for Julie Michaels, who played the trashy blonde. I was a young man in a time when naked ladies were more than just a Google search away. That strip tease is imprinted on my brain.

Sooner or later.  I absolutely had to review the original.  It's a very fun movie, but the premise is absolutely ridiculous, and it is played perfectly straight the whole way through until the "Har, har, a bear fell on him." at the end.

The one who still catches my eye is the topless girl who winks at Sam Elliott while he is working at the strip club.  Of course, she's probably around 50 now.  Time and gravity are not kind to any of us.

My parents abosultely love this movie.  I should probably show them this review.

Wow--one of my favorite websites (Badmovies.org) reviews one of my favorite movies (Road House) with references to one of my favorite artists (Springsteen) and one of my favorite books (The Great Book of Amber).

Truly, the planets are in alignment.

"A legend in the world of bouncers until he dies and passes into bouncer legend. "

lol

my cousin showed me this film on VHS when I was about 7 (he was about 15) and his mother walked in the room exactly at the first sex scene and it was promptly turned off. I never saw Roadhouse again properly until about 15 years later

My favorite quote from this movie...

Jimmy: "I used to f**k guys like you in prison!"
