Title: Bit of excitement out our way last night . . .
Post by: indianasmith on March 04, 2012, 08:30:54 AM
I had just sat down to watch my Saturday night bad movie (an indy horror flick called MACHETE JOE) when I heard a vehicle racing down our narrow, blacktop county road - followed by three dull whumps and a very loud crash - the windowpanes shook and the electricity died!  I grabbed my keys and ran to the car.  100 yards from the end of our driveway, a pickup truck had rolled and taken out a power pole - sheared it off at ground level!  The teenage occupant was out of the truck and crawling towards the road.  I was the first person on the scene;  I called 911 before I even saw him on the ground, then several other neighbors arrived.  We got him to hold still till the ambulance arrived; he was in shock and kinda fought getting onto the stretcher.  Once he was bundled up safely I went back home - power was down till about 3 AM.  Made for a long night, but I am glad the kid was OK.

Thank God the boy was okay....I'll bet that was quite a shock for you and Mrs.Indy.

She slept through the accident and woke up when I headed out the door!  But it all worked out, the kid is OK, the power is back on, and the farmer has already repaired the barbed wire fence he demolished.  Other than the tire tracks, you could drive right by the scene and not know there was an accident!
