Title: KONY 2012
Post by: Vik on March 07, 2012, 01:05:17 PM
So, I just watched this rapidly spreading documentary on Joseph Kony. The description:

"Joseph Kony and his killers have abducted more than 30,000 children from their families, forcing young boys to murder their parents and become child soldiers and the girls to work as sex slaves.

Make KONY Famous is aiming to raise global awareness of Kony - to make him famous - “not to celebrate him, but to raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice”.

As the filmmaker Jason Russell explains, less than one per cent of the world knows who Kony is, however, if people knew what he had done, they would demand action.

Watch the video … spread the word"

Interesting. I hadn't heard of him.  I Googled Joseph Kony and he sounds like one bad dude. He's a Ugandan rebel and a fanatic who uses children as his footsoldiers to do his dirty work. He's been indicted as a war criminal by the International Criminal Court and declared a terrorist by the US. He's been driven into hiding like Osama Bin Laden; hopefully, his fate will eventually be the same.

Man, this is really catching.  Let's hope we can find this guy.

He hasn't been active in Uganda for about 6 years.

The LRA's number barely reaches 300.

Turns out Invisible Children is actually a quite questionable organisation in terms of how they spend their money. However, I don't think raising awareness on Kony's atrocities and encouraging social justice is a bad thing on itself.

Huh?

Yeah, he's bad, but, there are far worse characters, like those  loons  in Iran who may get nukes.
