Title: Your State Flower Post by: tracy on March 31, 2012, 12:53:45 PM Because of all the well-needed rain we have had this winter our Texas Bluebonnets are going crazy....
(http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-71mly4iHDjM/TZX5NGk-1hI/AAAAAAAABbk/aOnurIVmDPY/s1600/texasbluebonnets2.jpg) How about yours? Title: Re: Your State Flower Post by: Flick James on March 31, 2012, 01:10:48 PM Arizona's is the Saguaro Blossom (cactus flower). I have no idea when that actual blooming season is, but given it's a cactus I doubt the rains have much to do with it.
Title: Re: Your State Flower Post by: Jack on March 31, 2012, 02:21:27 PM In Minnesota it's the pink and white Lady Slipper
(http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww28/jackc8/images.jpg) Originally our state flower was the Lady Slipper (Cypripedium calceolus), but then they found out they don't grow in Minnesota. :bouncegiggle: So they changed it to the pink and white one (Cypripedium reginae). They must be fairly rare as well as I've lived here all my life and have never seen one. Title: Re: Your State Flower Post by: Rev. Powell on March 31, 2012, 03:00:23 PM Apparently Kentucky's state flower is the goldenrod (who knew?). We're better known for our state bird, the Cardinal:
(http://feenixx-gallery.com/state_birds_and_flowers/state%20bird%20images/kentucky_state_bird_and_flower.jpg) Beautiful creatures and we really do see them quite often. Title: Re: Your State Flower Post by: Flick James on March 31, 2012, 04:51:32 PM Quote We're better known for our state bird, the Cardinal Right. Arizona is not particularly known for our state flower either. We're more known for our state person: the desert psycho. Title: Re: Your State Flower Post by: retrorussell on March 31, 2012, 07:26:28 PM Oregon Grape. An evergreen shrub that grows little yellow flowers and blue berries, that maybe somewhat resemble grapes, though the Oregon Grape is not in itself a grape at all.

Delaware's state flower is the peach blossom, which is perfect for me. Not only are they nice to look at and lovely to smell, but they mean PEACHES are coming - that I can eat. I love peaches. Is it peach season yet? Title: Re: Your State Flower Post by: Trevor on April 02, 2012, 08:24:12 AM We don't have a state flower ~ although some parts of this country are in a bit of a state :tongueout: ~ but our national flower is the King Protea.

My Mom planted a wonderful Rose bush, years ago, and every time they bloom, already I see signs, people would love them. Unfortunately, some would pick them while no one was home. You never get over death of someone you love, you just keep moving on and doing the best you can and try to be forgiving to those who don't quite make it. Title: Re: Your State Flower Post by: Raffine on April 04, 2012, 08:16:15 PM As a fairly recent Georgia immigrant I was a bit surprised to find the state flower is NOT the Peach Blossom, it's the Cherokee Rose.
(http://www.netstate.com/states/symb/flowers/images/cherokee_rose2.jpg) FUNF ACT: A Cherokee Rose featured prominently in a recent episode of The Walking Dead. The episode was in fact titled Cherokee Rose.
