First off, I'm primarily answering as your question is getting no replies. If you want to get these girls' attention, you need to somehow make the post about them.

Secondly, with regard to your signature, it's boring; not the concept, but the movies you have selected...you have the wishlist of a 10 yr old.

People on a movies forum, despite the preponderance of political and religious discussions :lookingup: , have seen these...many times.

The concept is your own, and that makes it unique, but make your choices something that makes someone do a second take...makes them want to consider it as a movie choice...not choices that are going to get responses that are likely "seen it, seen it, boring, seen it, can't give it away, the hell that replays in my head, etc."

The simple fact is that this thread would have disappeared had I not answered it, and as usual the only reason why it is being responded to is to combat the evil that is presumed to be me.

I didn't call bob stupid. I replied to his (I'm presuming...tell me if I'm wrong) question by telling him that I do not like his signature...as it is, and went on to tell him how I think he can improve it. I would not have suggested how he could improve it if I didn't think the idea was at least interesting and original.

The one thing I did do is answer; and none of you had done that until you had a reason to...which is unfortunate that it is because I posted rather than the reason it should be...simply because someone asked a question.

I took the same thing from your post that RC did.  You didn't SAY the word stupid, but all your words did, and the only way to appear smaller now is to then pretend you meant otherwise (as you now are doing).

RC has it right.  You could have answered his question with a constructive approach and some kindness.  While you gave an honest critique, you did not mean it kindly, and RC didn't put his foot in his mouth.  You did.

If you're having a bad day, you could try what I do:  write your reply, stare at it for a long time, and then delete it and move on with your day without making a post.

As to your question, Bob, as for me I don't pay much attention to sigs...  For what my opinion is therefore worth, panes of movies watched isn't something that attracts my attention.  I more like the pithy quotations or else a really clever gif, myself.

Menard, I would find your response insulting.  However, if just one sentence is removed, it changes from insulting to just being perhaps too critical - but still useful feedback.

It's not at issue as to whether it's insulting. Of course anything I post is going to be honest and most likely crude and insulting as a result of being honest. But 'insulting' is not the issue at hand; RC said I called bob 'stupid', which I did not, and Zap somehow had a brainfart and wrote out his ass.

The simple thing is that this thread was going to disappear without a single response. Of course the board would go on and it's nothing earth-shaking or in any way tragic, except perhaps to bob, but that wasn't on my mind as I just saw a thread that hadn't been replied to and decided to reply to it.

It's not what I said to bob that has these girls replying, it's specifically this:

And no, none of you girls know my heart and mind when I am writing something. If I intend to call anybody anything, I will; I think I've shown more than enough on here that I have no problem with saying what I mean.
