I think he'll lose a lot of business that he might otherwise have gotten just because of the name.

I was a  Titanic 'buff' in JHS, wrote  a report, way before the current hysteria, thanks  to that  awful, idiotic movie. Yes, it was a terrible tragedy that  changed  many rules  followed  by ships. I wish people  would  leave the ship and those  folks alone, I'm surprised  someone has not sought to recover  bones  from the ocean  site to sell?

Billionare  sounds  like he has  nothing else  better  to do with his money. just build a large ship.

I know this will come across as catty but I think it's just for the attention.

When I first saw this, I thought it was a bad idea. But, the more I thought about it, I realized what we are NOT going to get is an EXACT replica of the "Titanic," but some FACSIMILE replica of it. For the following reasons, which also go to show how the world has changed in the past 100 years.

There would BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" enough lifeboats for everyone. Since international maritime law demands it, and you can't get around that.

There would NOT BE . . . unlike the "Titnaic," a saltwater pool. Even if the pools are placed indoors, instead of outdoors as most ship pools, the pools will most likely be freshwater. As most passengers will no longer swim in saltwater, when they can swim in fresh water.

There would BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" proper watertight bulkheads that extend up far enough so water does not slosh over from  compartment to compartment.

There would NOT BE , , , unlike the "Titanic" in our more or less classless society, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd classes.

There would BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" air conditioning. Most passengers today would not know what to do without air conditioning in the cabins in case of warm weather.

There would NOT BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" the small cabins in 2nd class, which had room only for two sets of bunk beds, a sink, and not much else.

There would BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" a children's area for children. Most cruise ships the size of the "Titanic" or larger now have that, at least part time, and some areas are quite extensive. Taking up almost a whole deck.

There would NOT BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" showers and toilets down the hall and to the left. Perhaps, all the 1st class cabins had en-suite baths, but 2nd and 3rd class had to make due with communal toilets and showers.

There would BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" organized entertainment. Most passengers have forgotten how to entertain themselves, so the ship must entertain them.

There would NOT BE . . . unlike the "Titanic," a crew made up of only one nationality. And that is why certain areas of the the U.K. were so hard hit, when the ship sank.  Most of the crew, if not all the crew, were recruited from certain areas of the U.K. Now, crews look like a mini-U.N. made up of citizens of 70 or more countries.

There would BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" a casino on board. That is such a big monkeymaker, that only Disney Cruise Lines, of the large carriers, does not have a casino on board.

There would NOT BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" coal burning engines. Not only is oil or whatever they burn in the engines chaper, it is also less polluting.

There would BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" TVs and direct dial phones in every cabin.

There would NOT BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" little boys as part of the crew. As international child labor laws have changed over the years, the age at which a person can firsst go to sea on a passenger line  has been raised.

There would BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" internet acess. People must stay in touch with the world.

There would NOT BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" garbage dumped over the sde. As international enviromental laws have changed and people have become more concerened about sea pollution, everything used on board ship is suppose to stay on board ship till it can be properly disposed up on shore.

There would BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" a buffeteria or some place you can get something to eat, if you do not want to eat in the dining rooms or the dining rooms are closed.

There would NOT BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" dining rooms assigned accoring to your cabin category. Everybody now easts in the same dining room.

There would BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" ships' shops. So you can buy all that junk you forgot or don't need. Another big moneymaker.

There would NOT BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" the speed. There is no need, and the faster you go the more money it costs.

There would BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" central heatring for the cooler weather.

There would NOT BE . . . unlike the "Titanic" the same route travel. Not only were the sealanes moved south after she sank, but it is no longer affordable to exclusively travel between the U.S. and the U.K. with the advent of travel by jet.

Of course, I may be wrong about all this, but I am not wrong, when I say I think it is still a bad idea.

This is more like mooning fate, keying it's car, and just daring it to do something.

Clive Palmer is a nutcase who has too much money.  He announced not too long ago that a member of the Greens Party here was being funded by the CIA to undermine the Australian government.

I wouldn't put much stock into his opinions/plans.
