Title: Movies you bet no one here has seen
Post by: Olivia Bauer on May 14, 2012, 12:14:32 AM
Name a movie so obscure that you're fairly certain nobody on the forums has seen. If someone calls you out and says they have, you must award them +1 karma.

EYE OF THE CAT (1969)

I seen this on a uhf channel back in the early 70's-The scene I recall most was some woman in a wheel cahir getting pushed down a very steep hill....

I saw Eye Of The Cat on TV back in the '70s.  I remember the commercials and was all excited about it, then we watched it and I imagine I thought it was pretty dull, but it had crazy cats in it

How about Within The Rock?  A little oddity I picked up on VHS quite a while ago.

One point: it should be a movie that you have seen... otherwise I could just go to IMDB and dredge up 100s of 1970s Bollywood titles that were never translated into English.

I submit FLOODING WITH LOVE FOR THE KID, the one-man adaptation of FIRST BLOOD.

THE BEER DRINKER'S GUIDE TO FITNESS AND FILMMAKING
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096902/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096902/)

I was at a Catholic church book sale and found this interesting title on VHS.  It's a charming independent family doc -- the imdb description is good.  Idiosyncratic and amusing, and pretty obscure.

I have NOT seen this one, but if I read your description correctly, I now MUST see it!

Anyone see this one?:

Yep, I even reviewed it (http://366weirdmovies.com/capsule-nothing-2003).

FLOODING WITH LOVE FOR THE KID is especially rare because it's an unauthorized adaptation, so the guy (Zachary Oberzan) only sells it from his website. It played one theater in NYC, though, and got universally positive reviews (100% positive on Rotten Tomatoes). It's actually pretty good, especially when it's bad.

I've seen Within the rock when it played on the Sci-Fi channel.  The monster kills people and then lets them rot because its a carrion eater..

I've been rackin' my brain to try and think of something obscure enough to fit this thread, but the depth of bad-movie knowledge around here never ceases to amaze me, so I'm sure someone has seen this one.. anyway may as well give it a shot:

Howzabout "The Chair" (1989)?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fFuAKkdYMo

Some nonsense about a run-down prison and a haunted electric chair. From what little I remember of it (I saw this years ago during my heavy "rent movies, drink malt liquor" phase), it was very similar to Renny Harlin's "Prison" but with even more suck, and that it starred the late James Coco (who apparently died during filming) and Stephen "Evil Ed" Geoffreys as one of the inmates.

By the way, the YouTube description for this trailer sez it's a "black comedy send up of prison movies," but just from looking at the clip I would bet that any "comedy" in this flick was unintentional.

TO DIE FOR TANO [TANO DA MORIR] (1997)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=pwMF1gnKbYA

Sicilian Mafia musical comedy. I talked with the US theatrical distributor; he never could land a DVD distribution deal despite good reviews. I ordered one of the few English subbed copy off the film's website, but the site has since disappeared.

Here's one that I remember seeing from the 80's that I have not seen since, have not been able to find, AND unfortunately it shares the same name with multiple other movies that aren't it.

Junior (1984)  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089392/

This is NOT the Arnie/DeVito movie, nor is it the horror movie that came out a few years ago.  This is an 80's slasher flick that has two women on the run from the law.  Even though it's been 25 years or more since I've seen it, I still remember several scenes pretty vividly, so either it's not too bad, or I was just young and dumb.  Anyone seen THIS one?  It may not be AS obscure as I think, but we'll see...

I saw it years ago and I wasn't too impressed. I thought the whole 'chainsaw' promo gag was bull-ish, I remember there being only one chainsaw scene in the entire movie. Again, they seemed to try to pass it off as another slasher which it definately was not. I recall thinking the movie was just really dumb and lame even though I was an impressionable kid when I saw it. One to avoid in my book.

Own it!

...Anybody here ever see EYE OF THE DEVIL (1966)?  I made a point to watch that on TCM I think in the late afternoon.  SHARON TATE was so beautiful and great in her spooky part; the fact that she's in it is almost certainly the only reason to look at it.  An embarrassment for an amazing cast:   DAVID NIVEN, DEBORAH KERR, DAVID HEMMINGS... lots of familiar faces.
Stupid movie; truly dreadful.  I loved it!!  Highly recommended crap.

MIRROR MIRROR (1990)

A hot goth chick and her mother move to a new town , and the goth chick is picked on by the popular girls , until she finds out that a demon lives in her mirror that can kill people for her

I downloaded it piece by piece off of youtube and watched it and it's pretty cool

Devil Hunters, from either 1989 or 1990 depending on where you look.  I bought it on VHS, no DVD and the VCD is hard to find.  Fairly entertaining gun/martial arts Hong Kong film, most famous for the final stunt which badly injured several of its lead actors.  Which, of course, is in the final film.

Out of those named so far, I've seen only three - Within the Rock, King of the Zombies and The Red House.

Perhaps I'm wrong but not too many seem familiar with this one which should certainly appeal to those wrestling fans here who like the idea of zombies mixed with luchadores and lots of unconvincing cheesy gore...

Enter...Zombie King (2003) (AKA: Zombie Beach Party)

Also I'd certainly give karma to anyone else who's endured the pain of getting through these three (but I suspect they're pretty unknown here) :

I got one:
COTTONPICKIN' CHICKENPICKERS (1967)
Can't remember a whole lot about it other than it was a Southern-fried jokey slapstick type comedy suitable for the whole family.  We rented it for my little stepbrother in the late 80s while I was in high school.  Really quite impossible to sit through.

Living Will

A direct-to-dvd movie, I interned for the production company last summer and my first assignment was to write the time codes for each line of dialogue. I started work on it a few weeks before Dunn was killed. The whole thing was surreal. Since Bam Margera wasn't willing to promote it (understandable under the circumstances), it never really got the push it deserved, which is why you've probably never seen it, though I will gladly hand out karma to anyone who has.

Mister Lonely
Saw this on demand because I saw Harmony Korine directed it. Peaks very early with the scene where the micheal jackson impersonator entertains the old folks home. Werner Herzog makes an appearance but is not enough to save this from being pretentious and boring. Too bad because I feel Harmony Korine is certainly a talent as some of the shots in this film indicate.

Die Hard Dracula (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0162930/)
Which is a really fun movie with an excellent Van Hellsing.

Grrr... I came this close to buying Die Hard Dracula once for it's infamy on IMDb, and then you would've owed me karma! :hatred:

Oh well, I'll bet no one here has ever seen (my old "I know obscure stuff standby ) Dance of the Dwarfs (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085396/)! A 1983 film which consists of 90% Peter Fonda and Deborah Raffin trading flirtatious insults, 9% hijinks with bandits, and approximately 1% of dwarfs (actually, lizard-men) doing... something other than dancing.
X5-J4OPpmRQ

And if THAT fails, I'll direct you to a film I own entitled Barrio Boyz (http://www.amazon.com/BARRIO-BOYZ-VHS-Lorenzo-Munoz/dp/B000058TML/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1338121963&sr=8-1), a very cheap, very stupid film about Latino gangsters driving around and acting like blowhards to a cameraman they've conveniently kidnapped for a Blair-Witch-esque experience (at least for those who hated The Blair Witch Project). Barrio Boyz is not even on IMDb, and I only found out about it through the director's other awful film about Latino gangsters: Hip Hop Locos (which currently holds a rating of 1.0 on IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0816243/))

Computer Visions (1991)

A documentary about CGI, hosted by a human woman and a CGI character named Ray Tracey (Ugh!).  You know whats sad?  They never explained what ray tracing is.  It's still cool to see old computer graphics, made when photorealism was optional.  It's also neat to see "realistic" images which can now be done on a video game system.  :bouncegiggle:

Thinking about it, I'd probably appreciate it more now.  As I recall, some of the photography was competent and interesting considering an obviously ULTRA low budget, and the movie seemed to actually be trying to say something.  That's more than, say, most of Asylum's catalog.

Here's one: The Blue Jeans Monster.

This is the only film starring the late Shing Fui-On (who died of cancer in 2009).  If any of you have watched Hong Kong films, you'd probably recognize him as the lead villain in the Killer, and a minor villain in A Better Tomorrow, God of Gamblers, and DOZENS of other films.  Here he is, showing WHY he plays villains..

Anyway, the Blue Jeans Monster is a CAT III (NC-17 equivalent) sort of action-sex-comedy film about a police officer who gets killed, but comes back from the dead because his wife is pregnant and he wants to be there to see his son.  Also, he wants to get the guys who killed him.  It has a scene where he eats noodles, they all fall out of the big hole in his gut (an injury from when he died), and then someone else eats them.  And it has a scene where two women discuss whether having sex while pregnant will lead to a baby with a flat nose, and the possible danger of the man having his penis bitten by the baby ("that's why they don't have any teeth!").

Oh, and popping breast implants.

Classy movie.

It's also pretty entertaining and worth tracking down.

It was good. It's your average b/w haunted house / 'who done it' movie... has a mix of creepy and comedy.

If you like movies like that... can I suggest And Then There Were None (1945)

This is the only b/w murder mystery I can watch over and over... it's just a fun movie to watch.

Own it!

...Anybody here ever see EYE OF THE DEVIL (1966)?  I made a point to watch that on TCM I think in the late afternoon.

SHARON TATE was so beautiful and great in her spooky part; the fact that she's in it is almost certainly the only reason

to look at it.  An embarrassment for an amazing cast:   DAVID NIVEN, DEBORAH KERR, DAVID HEMMINGS... lots of familiar faces.
Stupid movie; truly dreadful.  I loved it!!  Highly recommended crap.

Here's one I bet none of you have seen:

Adiós, Cigüeña, Adiós (1971) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066746/)
(http://www.nuestrocine.com/carteles/Adios_ciguena_adios.jpg) (http://www.nuestrocine.com/detallepelis.asp?idpeli=2209)

Of course, you kind of have to know Spanish to appreciate the movie, or else have a translation handy. Basically, it's a teen pregnancy comedy (!) about a boy and a girl and their friends who help them cover up their... little mistake for all nine months. (This being early 1970s Catholic Spain, nobody dares to tell either teen's parents what's happened, and nobody even thinks of murdering the baby.) While it doesn't gloss over their problems or pretend there's any easy fix, most of the movie really is pretty funny.

One scene that always cracks me up for some reason is late in the movie where the now very-heavily-pregnant girl is lying in bed writing a pack of lies in a letter to her father about all the fun she's having on a vacation she's supposedly taking at a seaside resort town, and she stops to take a big bite out of a sandwich before finishing the letter. There's just something really funny about the contrast between the fiction she's weaving and the reality of her situation there.

Anybody seen this?

It's far more fun than it has any right to be considering it's just clips stuck together with new voice overs and dubbing to make it vaguely resemble something with a plot.

I think my favorite bit is probably the sexing dancing to polka music.

House of Mystery (1934)
Anyone? I've watched this last week...

I know that movies in one of my horror box sets. Is it any good?

It was good. It's your average b/w haunted house / 'who done it' movie... has a mix of creepy and comedy.

(spooky voodoo drums playing in the background)

also

If you like movies like that... can I suggest And Then There Were None (1945)

This is the only b/w murder mystery I can watch over and over... it's just a fun movie to watch.

You'll never believe 'who done it'. (shock value)

I've seen "And Then There Were None."

The Andy Milligan Jekyll and Hyde epic THE MAN WITH TWO HEADS (1972) starring the now famous English panto dame Berwick Kaler, or his latter day horror/comedy (!) MONSTROSITY (1987) starring the recently late, great Haal Borske.

Anybody else ever seen any of Don Dohler's Baltimore sci-fi epics like THE ALIEN FACTOR (1978) or NIGHT BEAST (1982)? The main alien from THE ALIEN FACTOR actually got a ugly pink cover on Famous Monsters!

There were several very low budget horror films shot on and around the farm I had for several years in rural Tennessee.

Ever seen:

SKARECROW aka DARK HARVEST 3 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436774/combined)?

WOLFSBAYNE aka ACONITE (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0426629/combined)?

SHUDDER (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1233228/combined)?

I did! I was even at the big theatrical premiere of  a couple of 'em!

My big brush with fame was when I got to drive Gunnar Hansen to the Piggly Wiggly to buy the ingredients for his cheese dip, which he made for everybody.

Both feature ex Castle of Frankenstein magazine almuni George Stover.

Here's a rarity-the DEMON LOVER (1977)-my copy is named the DEVIL MASTER. It's in one of those Big Boxes from Regal Video.

This was made in rural Michigan! It was to star Ted Nugent in the lead...but he backed off.

No, but I know a woman who was in Dohler's CRAWLER (2004). It's her only IMDB credit. I bet no one has ever seen it because she told me they're still trying to convince someone to distribute it!

Seen 'em both, too!

I agree with Rev, I liked DAZED AND CONFUSED better. While good, A MIGHTY WIND is my least favorite of the ol' SPINAL TAP gang of mockumentaries.

Here's one they did after A MIGHTY WIND, which was more of a straight comedy rather than a mockumentary:

It's OK and has a great performance by Catharine O'Hare, but overall its pretty forgettable. Anybody else seen it?

Or hows about:

It's a great, imaginative film about the elderly Alice Liddell, the inspiration for ALICE's ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND. Coral Browne (Mrs. Vincent Price!) is terrific as the elderly, frail Alice travelling to the US to participate in a celebration of the book and author Lewis Carroll.

She is haunted by the memories of Carroll's odd and disturbing obsession with her as a child, and revisits Wonderland and grotesque versions of its inhabitants.

Browne is really amazing in this. The truly frightening creatures were made by Jim Hensen's workshop, with the Mock Turtle and The Gryphon being particularly horrific:

Melody (1971) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067418/) is probably one of the most popular films I've known that nobody I know seems to have seen. You may have seen it if you're in Europe or certain parts of Asia or South America where it's staggeringly popular, but chances are if you're here in North America, you've never even heard of it. It had Mark Lester and Jack Wild from Oliver! and a couple of other mildly famous actors and some famous music from the Bee Gees and Crosby Stills & Nash, yet it never really had a proper export to America and so it languishes in obscurity here. My own copy is a Region 2 DVD from the UK. Anybody else here ever seen Melody?

I have. At least twice on television. Wild and Lester. Ever since their appearance in "Oliver," how can I pass up a show or film with either one in it, and here they both appear in the same film once more. Double the pleasure. Double the fun. And while most of the songs in the film were by the Bee Gees, my favorite song from the film, and one of my favorite songs of all time is "Teach Your Children" by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.

This is one of my all-time favorite movies. I saw it on cable back when they showed movie after movie to fill their broadcast hours (I wish they'd go back to that. I freaking HATE "Everyone Loves Raymond"!!), and I instantly fell in love with it. How could you not? Two cute kids who decide they want to be married and their friend rally to help them accomplish the task. I've loaned it to a couple of people who complained, "I couldn't get through the first 10 minutes." Gee, I guess people relating to each other is too much work to watch. Just go back to your high concept Hollywood trash, but don't tell me I have no taste.

Okay, rant over.

I have never found anyone who had even heard of this film. And here it is, mentioned in my favorite forum. This is why all you folks are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

Smile Orange is a comedy by the director of the Harder They Come. I would recommend it. It's not amazing but it's entertaining. The hook of it is the view of the jamaicans to the tourism industry.  People who , having paid for unlimited food, eat too much. native jamaican lifeguards who can't swim, women trying to make time with the guys it's funny.

Has anyone seen Russian Terminator (1989) (aka Russian Ninja)?

It has the classic lines:
Guy 1:  What are we going to do now?
Guy 2:  Let's go kick some asses.

Another one many people may not have seen is Tokyo Zombie (2005)

Filmed in my own hometown, directed by and starring the father of a girl I went to high school with.  It's essentially two hours of him wandering around a corn field yelling "Girls! Girls? Girls!" like a confused Motley Crue fan.  It's terrible, and the director was arrested for tax evasion not long after.

This one is part Moives you bet no one here has seen and What was that film because its been ages since I've seen this particular film itself so I might not be getting all the details right. But it was (I believe) a made-for-tv movie called The Minion and it aired on the USA channel sometime in the late 80's/early 90's.

It was about a man who came into possession of a weird demon/baby/puppet creature that he had to keep in a bird cage.

It was The Darkling.  I could have sworn it was earlier then that, but that seems to be the movie I was thinking about.

I heard that "Heavy Metal Massacre" is exceptionally bad, truly the worst... However, I was never able to find it in ten years. I beg people who have this to post it on YouTube. It was made by director/writer/star Bobby DeFalco, the same guy behind 2005 "Chaos".
In a review that I've read about HMM, it says that the movie is full of his photos and loving close-ups of Mr. De Falco trying to look cool with his leather outfits and looking so metal.  :bouncegiggle:

How about the original 1953 edit of DEMENTIA?  There's a censored version of it renamed DAUGHTER OF HORROR that's more readily available - and has narration by Ed McMahon of all people - but the first version is even trippier.

A real find thanks to TCM a couple of months ago was THE SEA BAT (1930). Seems a giant Manta Ray (aka THE SEA BAT!) is raising holy terror over a Carribean Island's sponge fishermen. There's some voodoo dancing and a hot blooded native woman (in see through top).

It's chock full of  pre-code gooniness and features Karloff in a tiny role as 'The Corsican'. Reportedly this was intended as a vehicle for Lon Chaney but he died before production began.

the SEA BAT attacks!

The Sea Bat - 1930 - Wesley Ruggles (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vx3w6b_AnV0#)

The film makers seemed to have been a bit unclear about how Manta Rays looked or behaved. Just try to watch this without making motor boat puuuutttt put put nosies.

My favorite scene features the SEA BAT killing a sponge diver by sitting on him at the bottom of the sea until the poor diver drowns.

Anybody here seen Jack O'Lantern?

It's a movie about a guy that is either mentally challenged, traumatized, brain damaged, or possibly just stupid (it's never made clear) who's recovering from an "accident" that his friends caused.  He tries to carve a jack O Lantern out of the nastiest pumpkin ever and the pumpkin actually bleeds.  From here on, he has blackouts where he gets possessed ad kills people while turning into a pumpkin monster ... or something.

It's far more fun than it has any right to be considering it's just clips stuck together with new voice overs and dubbing to make it vaguely resemble something with a plot.

I think my favorite bit is probably the sexing dancing to polka music.

I've got this one!

There were a number of soft-core or sex comedy flicks that were REALLY obscure (and disappeared fast from movie theaters), that appeared on Showtime After Hours/Skinemax/etc. in the wee hours of the AM..
I actually remember seeing the trailer for this one:
GETTING IT ON (1983)
US sex comedy.
THE YUM YUM GIRLS (1976)
Weird movie about a model in New York.
ELEVEN DAYS, ELEVEN NIGHTS (1987)
Odd movie about a weird woman and her litany of sexcapades.

I saw Eye Of The Cat on TV back in the '70s.  I remember the commercials and was all excited about it, then we watched it and I imagine I thought it was pretty dull, but it had crazy cats in it

I've seen and owned both of those, although I originally saw them in the 80's on Channel Eight's late, lamented FOUR O'CLOCK MOVIE.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geK_EvPFzao (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geK_EvPFzao)

I've seen GALAXY INVADER... got it on a dollar-store double feature disc (paired, oddly enough, with Kinji Fukusaku's mega budget end-of-the-world epic VIRUS)... it was certainly an experience. When I reviewed it on IMDb, I described it as a "rough draft of Predator if it had been made by third graders" or something to that effect.  :bouncegiggle:

Blood Song 1982 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRLzewb_RkU#)

I've seen Blood Song.  Slow and not too good; Frankie Avalon is a psychotic killer!  Filmed in Coos Bay and Bend, OR-- southwest and southeast of where I live (Beaverton).  On a DVD double-bill with MAUSOLEUM.

I saw this on Amazon Prime and was very entertained. It has character to spare and feels like everyone involved had a good time making the movie.

I think I saw Dr Hecklyl and Mr Hype on Thistv a few years back. They have a lot of old MGM stuff like that Octopus man on the beach whatever it is

     That would be OCTAMAN....
! No longer available (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykxhJVjtmr4#)

This is the first professional film Rick Baker worked on. I rented this back in '88, and showed it to my cousin, Pat; he wouldn't speak to me for a week.

Super-obscure pic called THE COMING (1980).  Daughter/accomplice of witch--hunter inhabits body of girl in present-day Salem.  People curious about the girl's behavior end up predictably and violently murdered.  Briefly on cable in the early 80s.

SPACE MONSTER WANGMAGWI (1967), an obscure monster movie that's been lost for decades but was later rediscovered in the early 2000s. However, it can only be seen in it's origin country, South Korea in a specific film festival. I'd be very surprised to find anyone who has seen it.

No, do I have to have seen it? I thought it just had to be a film that you believe nobody else on the forums has seen, regardless if you have seen it or not. Otherwise, I apologize.

Looking back at the first post on the first page of this thread, the answer is NO, it's not imperative that you have to have seen it.  But if someone says they did see the movie you posted, you are supposed to give them one point of karma.

Has anyone seen Machine Head (2000)? It is a Z-Grade spin of the Frankenstein story. I only saw it because it was on a collection with three other movies. This one might be the best actually. At least it certainly wasn’t the worst. That dishonor goes to Frankenstein’s Great Aunt Tillie which I posted about here before.

A Day of Judgment (1981) - A religious drama turned into a faux horror slasher with added footage by the producers. It was released to VHS but remains an obscure and little seen movie.

Years of the Beast (1981) - Effective christian movie that is quite unsettling. I don't know about the release history of this film but I watched it for the first time last year on youtube.

The Territory (1981) - UK horror-drama-fantasy with creepy moments. I don't think it was ever released outside the UK.

I never seen BLOOD STALKERS-but now I think I have to. But I have seen the CREEP BEHIND THE CAMERA! Totally inaccurate. When the CREEPING TERROR was made in 1964, Manson was in prison. So that's bulls**t. But so was lots of ED WOOD.  But it's an entertaining movie!

Secret of the telegian. Basically i'm getting no one here's seen is because i haven't seen it.

It's the third part of the toho "altered humans" scifi trilogy along with 'the human vapor" and "the H man".  These movies all involved crime, scifi and humans altered in various ways .  (tho saying the creatures in H man were  still human is hard)

While H man is faulty well known in B movie circles and the human vapor isn't unheard of,  secret of the telegian is very hard to find anywhere due to its  U. s.  distributor collapsing.

It dealt with teleportation, long before we heard "beam me up" but after "the fly".

It did have some of the most elaborate animated teleportation effects ever done. Or so I see in images and short clips.

I don't think I ever saw this one all the way, but if it's  like similar "crime+horror+monster+scifi" Japanese movies only th sf and horror parts are worth watching. Ask RCM about "space monster dagora" for input on this.

Uses the idea of teleportation being used to get away with murder. It's kinda hard to convict a fella of murder if he can show he was hundreds of miles away as about the time the murder was  committed.

Slipstream (1989)  Directed by John Lisberger

Stars Mark Hamil.  I had not heard of it at all until 2018 when my roommate brought home a copy he found for $1.  While it's not totally bad, it's not totally good either.  It falls flat with the story... even though it does try to build up to one sometimes.  It just got caught up in the idea of the story itself I think.

Jebediah's Axe - an ultra low budget DTV horror film that happens to have been shot at one of my favorite arrowhead hunting locales on Lake Tawakoni!
Several familiar settings - the Luigi's restaurant in Quinlan and the tiny downtown strip of Lone Oak, TX.  Unremarkable except for the number of times I said: "Hey, I've been there!"

JACK-O, an ultra low budget, ultra s**tty horror movie from the 90' that I watched with my friends when we were kids and to this day is our ultimate classic piece of garbage. We still laugh about the putridness of that movie. It begs for the Andrew treatment.

Probably someone else watched it but it's very rare. To confuse thigs even further, I believe there's a newer version made in 2005 or so with the same name. Man, I sure miss those times when you could walk into a store and find these kind of gems, instead of everything coming out of Nets**t.  :bluesad:

A couple I came across during the bulk close out era...

Digital Dreams (1983)
Rolling Stones bass player Bill Wyman ventures off on a quest to find himself after his obsessive hobbies of photography, fishing & astronomy can't help him escape the uncertainties of producing his first solo album, the headaches of writing his memoirs on one of the worlds first home computers, and above all, have to face his crumbling marriage...  Meanwhile, God has dispatched an angel in the form of James Coburn from one of Bill's favorite westerns to keep an eye on things.
Sprinkled with interviews & amusing fantasy sequences.

The Inheritor (1990)
Looks more like a senior thesis for a film school grad than a movie, & a mystery that raises more questions than it answers...
A young woman is brought to a small town by a predictably handsome young cop after her twin sister mysteriously dies. There she meets an annoying & creepy young author of uncouth books about atheism, and there's a couple of rather wooden cameos by Dan Haggerty...

The Wizard Of Mars (1965)
Boredom ensues when four astronauts crash land on Mars & wonder around in the desert for a few hours while one of them makes those jokes like that office comedian everyone wants to put out of his misery... Then they find a castle & a hologram of John Carradine & they have to fix a giant grandfather clock.
The VHS version I bought was called 'Alien Massacre' which had a cartoon portrait of a topless woman on the cover & a VERY inaccurate synopsis on the back (kinda like they did with Golden Apples of the Sun (1973), AKA Caged Terror), and I actually passed it up a number of times before I eventually broke down & bought it.

If you want endless climbing of the same rocks over and over, try the LOST CONTINENT (1951).
Anything even remotely interesting in this movie is in the trailer. Otherwise they just climb rocks-and the same rocks! Over! and over!

There's another movie called 'the lost continent ' that has less rock climbing,   more color and people walking across sargasso while held up by big leather balloons and getting eaten by glowing one eyed octopi and man eating seaweed.

No,  RC, you can't have any of what I'm smoking!  I'm  not smoking anything,  this is a real movie!

Here's a movie pretty rarely seen.

Red planet mars, starring peter graves.  A movie written about martian Christians (yes,  seriously.  This was in the movie! ) sending radio messages to earth by someone who had no idea how radio worked!

It was panned by pretty much most reviewers.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Planet_Mars

The movie plot involved radio messages to and from mars,  alledgely, that required something called a "hydrogen valve",  developed bynthe nazis and now an irreplacrable lost technology., to send or recieve and required hydrogen gas (so you already know the movie ends with an explosion,  right?)  to operate.

Several peolle familiar with radio technology alledgely had to leave the few theaters this was shown in due to excessive laughing or groaning.

I`ll admit it's cheating, bacause i) German and ii) not a real movie. But someone might have a laugh off it.

Staplerfahrer Klaus (2000) - forklift driver Klaus.

A short film that comes along as a instructional film of the workers' compensation board on safety at work and accident prevention regulations (I had to google-translate most of that). I don`t want to spoil, but - hint - it is not.

The movie was actually rather successful back then, even got some awards and was shown in Cannes.

And you can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlJjL-1Zfng (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlJjL-1Zfng)

Now that's a forgotten title from the past. I watched this, but I don't think anything interesting at all went on in this movie. Wasn't there snow and some outdoor scenes? I think to remember some of that.

Staplerfahrer Klaus (2000) - forklift driver Klaus.

The DVD made it rounds with us colleagues where I used to work at years ago. It certainly was a must-see back then. Especially since we had a fork-lift driver named Klaus at work. He wasn't very amused about the movie.

"My Son John".

I'm kinda glad this is a little seen movie as it's really awful. Imagine all the commie fear of the early 50's distilled 7 times over, concentrated, purified and crystallized into a dose of utter, pure intolerance, paranoia and jingoism.

MSJ is that dose.

The movie is so soaked in fear of "DUH COMMEEZ!!!" and their intolerance of other ways of life and other views plus their totalitarian regime it pretty much advocates america becoming a society so utterly intolerant of the slightest dissent or other view that it becomes a totalitarian regime in which everyone not utterly subservient to god and country are regarded as time bombs of treason just waiting to go off.

Intellectuals are portrayed as borderline traitors whose minds are open to all sorts of weird, subversive ideas when they're not being watched by good old red blooded patriots whose minds ar hermetically sealed against any  thought that isn't 110% far right approved.

Here's a link to a review of it that really tears it a new one.

http://www.tcm.com/this-month/article/276077%7C0/My-Son-John.html (http://www.tcm.com/this-month/article/276077%7C0/My-Son-John.html)

I had the misfortune of  seeing it once and "Eeeeyeeew!" A  man's son is dying right in front of him after sustaining mortal wounds to save his father's life, and the father looks at him with a cold indifference as he pleads for him to deliver a message to his classmates, copping a "Eh, maybe." attitude while looking like he wishes his son wasn't taking so long ti die.

The end scene, with the dead son's voice apparently descending form heaven in a shaft of light to deliver a "DON'T THINK! IT'S BAD!" message to a college class required an effort not to vomit while watching.

CHERRY HILL HIGH (1977)
Really, really awful sex comedy-- they were doing a bunch of them in the 70s-- but with the lamest jokes/humor/shenanigans.  HS girls trying to see who can lose their virginity first (what an original concept!).  I remember this on Showtime late at night and saw about 10 minutes of it before I gave up.  Not to be confused with the Billy Joe Royal song "Cherry Hill Park".

At first I thought that was the English translation of "Auch Zwerge haben klein angefangen" (1970, Even Dwarfs Started Small). I enjoyed this early work by Werner Herzog at the local bad movie club (not exisitent anymore...).

Not many SA films made during the 1960s and 1970s were made available overseas due to apartheid but many of the classics are on Youtube now, like Wild Season and Katrina, not to forget SA's first horror film, the eerie Jannie Totsiens.

Never seen or heard of. The same director made Cheerleaders Beach Party right after Cherry Hill High

Based on IMDb's rating it is even worse than Cherry High.

The character may look like Leeloo but it really has nothing to do with Fifth Element. It's a really creepy and sleazy movie. The main character will be topless for no reason and her outfits change between scenes with no explanation.

Shadey (1985) With Patrick McNee

This surreal British black comedy tells the tale of poor Oliver Shadey, a mechanic who longs to become a woman but lacks the money for the operation. Oliver is a talented lad and has the rare ability to read the minds of people and put their thought on film. He has the best of intentions when he hooks up with greedy Sir Cyril Landau with a way to earn some money and achieve his goal.

It earned only 65,000$ in it's theatrical release. Not sure how much it made on VHS..or DVD

But damn it's a fun, f**ked up movie.
