Title: Movie about the destruction of rain forest...can't think of name
Post by: Boogada on June 20, 2012, 07:06:54 AM
The movie took place I believe in South America during the time period that deforestation was going on and having a serious impact on the Amazon area.  There were construction crews and a young child wondered off into the forest, was picked up by natives and raised for a short time by them.  The movie must have been made by environmentalists in an attempt to show what the forest had to offer mankind and what we were doing to damage the planet and how important the rain forest was to the natives surviving there.  In the end the boy was found and a statement or two were made before they ran the credits about how important it is that we stop detroying precious rain forest for environmental reasons, statistics on the rate they were being destroyed, and the overall impact to us and our planet.  OUTSTANDING MOVIE.  I cannot remember the name and so far no one else has been able to help me with this.

Most likely "The Emerald Forest" (1985).

Wow!  Many thanks Andrew - you were right!  I have wanted to re-watch this movie "The Emerald Forest" for nearly 27 years since I first saw it.  You rock!
