Title: DETENTION (2011) Post by: indianasmith on August 01, 2012, 11:42:20 PM I debated whether to put this in the Good Movies or Bad Movies subforum. Then I imagined I was in a Roman Coliseum with Decius Maximus bellowing up at the crowd "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?" The answer is yes, I was.
So here in the Good Movies section it goes. Imagine that you wanted to make a movie that combined elements of BREAKFAST CLUB, SCREAM, SCARY MOVIE, FREAKY FRIDAY, and BACK TO THE FUTURE. Imagine that you were high on LSD at the time. The result might very well resemble this movie. A group of teenagers are being stalked by a serial killer who is dressed like their favorite movie slasher, CINDERHELLA. The cast of characters is typical: geeky girl with leg in cast, hipster slacker guy everybody likes, domineering idiot principle, the popular girl, the girl with too much makeup, the roided out jock who has some alien DNA, and the mysterious kid who has been in detention for 19 years. OK, maybe it's not so typical. Did I mention there was a cameo by the hideous and hairy Ron Jeremy? I can't even begin to describe the weirdness, but I will mention that this is a movie lover's movie. The barrage of movie references from the characters is non-stop! But a word of warning: there is another movie out called DETENTION (2010) starring David Carradine that is not supposed to be any good. Don't rent that one by mistake! |
