Title: PUNCTURE (2011)
Post by: ulthar on August 10, 2012, 09:11:34 PM
Based on a true story, PUNCTURE tells the story of a small Houston law firm fighting the good fight against corporate greed in the health care industry.

This one has the ringing of ERIN BROCKOVICH behind it, but is stylistically very different (and thankfully, no Julia Roberts).  The ending is different and the mood is different.  The similarities:  small, nearly broke law firm taking on corporate giant with deep pockets, flawed main character with "edge," profit vs moral theme.

The ending forces us to ask some bigger questions, though.  I don't want to give any spoilers here, but consider how one gives a life and still accomplishes a greater good.

I really liked this movie.  It hit hard without being cutesy.  It did not pull punches, and while the message may have gotten a little preachy at times, within the context of this story, these people's lives, it did fit.

4 out 5.
