Title: Your favorite 'eish' moments?
Post by: Trevor on August 20, 2012, 04:19:18 AM
I should explain that the South African word 'eish' (pronounced AYSH) is an expression which shows dismay and disbelief at the same time. My two eish moments are

1. Disbelief at the attitude of the Queen keeping silent for four days after Princess Diana's death and then only speaking due to public pressure.

2. President Bush sitting caught like a deer in the headlights after being told about the tragedy unfolding in New York.

Some of the foolishness Olympic TV commentators said...
"Its 4 o'clock, or as they say in London "High Teatime" heh heh"

Akin's (a US Senate candidate's) comments today about "legitimate rape" and about the female physiologic power to "shut down" the possibility of pregnancy during rape.      (http://www.smileyvault.com/albums/basic/smileyvault-puke.gif)

Anything Joe Biden says.

That would include that silly 'put you back in chains' comment too, I suppose.

The fact my high school nemesis actually looked pretty good at our reunion, when last time I saw her she'd gained at least twenty pounds.

Also that I've never before heard of such a useful word as "eish"! I'm definitely going to start using it in sentences.
