Title: The Trip (a psychedelic animation film)
Post by: Vik on August 26, 2012, 01:18:18 PM
Hey, guys! Been a while since my last post. Last week I entered a contest called BRAWL which stands for 'Brickfilming Rapidly All Week Long' and has the purpose of having its entrants create a stop-motion movie using LEGO. I teamed up with a friend of mine and we made this. The response so far has been really good. I wrote and edited the film, while my collaborator did the majority of the animation work (meaning everything except the store scene and the funky montage).
Any critique/responses would be greatly appreciated!

Awesome job!  I have a soft spot for lego animations...

One gripe I have with them, including yours, is not animating the mouths.  Totally worth the extra effort if you have the ability to [it goes a long way to make it look better].  I do understand how much of a pain in the butt it is though.

All this being said its a small gripe.  Loved the psychedelia!

Thanks! I have tried doing mouth animations in the past (frame by frame with paint) but it looked like crap. It can indeed make a movie a lot better though (check out 'Unrenewable'), though I haven't really figured out what technique to use.
