Title: trying to find the name of a movie Post by: cdestef142 on August 29, 2012, 09:38:33 PM This movie used to play on HBO and/or cinemax a lot in the 1980s. It was made in late seventies or early eighties and had a distinct after school special feel to it.
the premise was this female teacher or theater director is putting together a theater show for a group of adults that are all special needs. I believe it is set in NYC and the female character was named Ms. Dupwe (sp??) one plotline was that there was this one guy who had a deformed face and would never leave his house. His mother desperately wants him to take part in the show and feels it will make him happy to be part of something. Obviously he does in the end and gains acceptance yadda yadda. if i recall correctly it was one of those shows where they all wear black and certain things are highlighted by blacklight like white gloves, etc. PLEASE help, this has been driving me insane!! thanks Title: Re: trying to find the name of a movie Post by: Newt on August 30, 2012, 08:11:48 AM Sounds like Special People (1984 made for TV)
