I resisted therapy and medication but it was helpful when I finally agreed to it. therapy can just be talking to yourself for an hour. That's basically what I do with my therapy, it's a monologue.

I dread it but it ends up helping.

RC, if you don't mind my asking:  what is happening that you'd say you're losing your marbles?

Ronnie - don't be afraid of meds.  They  can really help sometimes, and if they don't, you stop taking them. They gave my wife's mom her life back several years ago when bipolar disorder was about to destroy her.

My mind races too fast-it goes-and goes-I cant sleep-I cant do anything-I race-like a dog chasing its own tail and barking at nothing. NOTHING!
I know Im losing it-I aint crazy in the sense that Im crazy-Im going crazy in a very physical sence-I can feel it.

Tara Sue was very bi-polar-she took a whole box full of pills every day-which destroyed her immune system...which left her open to cancer-which killed her.
She was damned if she did and damned if she didnt.
She was DAMNED.
I think Im fated to be damned too.
I WONT go on meds though.
Id rather go crazy and see what happens with that.  :bluesad:
Dammit....I sure could use some sleep,though-without thinking invisable cats are running around my house.

I dunno-I think im haunted.

Maybe meds would help with agitation.  They can definitely help with sleep.  See what your doctor suggests and look into it.  Xanax in a low dose can be cool and helpful.  Anti-anxiety medication made it possible for me to go on an airplane.  Sometimes, we need anti-anxiety meds to help us cope day to day.  Listen and learn.  Ask questions.
Believe in love.

Don't be stubborn, RC, try the meds.

If you don't like what they do you can stop taking them. But at least try them.

I don't know where I'd be without my antidepressants. I recommend them above living in Hell.

meditation can help clear out that sort of clutter. You focus on one thing so the fast  thoughts don't wear you out.

try talking out loud about it to someone or just the wall. You're already crazy so who cares how it looks

You know, you may seriously want to do some reading up on hypoglycemia. Low blood sugar (which is almost a given among drinkers) can make a person feel insane, moody, paranoid, ill, frazzled out in every way. Recurring low blood sugar has been misdiagnosed as everything up to schizophrenia. You may want to try eating small, regular meals, avoiding sugar, getting enough protein, and well, you know, a lot of alcohol has massive quantities of sugar in it. I know a retired physician who says he estimates 4/5ths of suicidal people show patterns of hypoglycemia in their lives, including Marilyn Monroe. If you don’t want to go on prescription medications, and I don’t blame you, you might investigate hypoglycemia, even just online, and see if its symptoms sound familiar to you. Getting blood sugar levels regulated can make all the difference in how a person feels. Good luck.

Great advice here. I don't agree with using meds to cure every problem that's for sure. I think too many people are addicted to stuff they don't need. Then again for some people, meds can really help and improve someone's lives. The answers aren't always easy...think ER is likely right in this case. Certainly something to look into...

That's very sensible advice. Yes,some meds will make quite a difference so get yourself looked at,sweetie.

Be EXTREMELY careful; I know from experience the dangers of taking anti-depressants if yopu're sensitive to them.

Interesting ideas about hypoglycemia ER.  I know people who made changes in their diet and exercise that made a world of difference in their sense of well-being.

RC, I hope you get a chance to relax and feel better.

As someone who is on meds, let me just say that I am still losing my mind, but the meds are slowing my descent into total madness, and if I was not on meds, I would have whacked myself along time ago, as madness runs in three of the four sides of my immediate family. Thus, while meds are not for everyone, they can be helpful to some, and I am still living proof of that.

Hey RC...
As for you and your new love, I can see the guilt, but TaraSue would not want you to be miserable at any time.  She loved you just as much and that means she wanted you to be happy.

I won't talk the meds and the doc, you know my answer to that...
Take care bro.
