Post by: Jack on September 06, 2012, 07:17:22 AM Balance of Terror - okay so it's a WWII warship vs. submarine movie, but the performance from the Romulan commander (Mark Lenard, who would go on to play Spock's father in later episodes) and the whole cat-and-mouse scenario combined to make a truly unforgettable episode.
The Doomsday Machine - an extremely dramatic episode with a fantastic performance by William Windom as Commodore Decker make this another unforgettable one for me. There are a bunch of other standout ep's but those are my two favorites. Title: Re: Your favorite Star Trek episode(s)? Post by: dean on September 06, 2012, 09:19:57 AM I like the one where the spaceships go 'pew! pew!'
I can't think of any off hand that I would consider a favourite, though I am a very casual fan of the series. That said I read a Star Trek novel that my folks had at home once that was pretty interesting, about some planet which had Devil-like aliens in it and it was pretty interesting and introduced me to Sci-fi novels [it was the first 'set in space' book I read when I was very young.] I can't remember the exact plot, but I remember one of the aliens seducing someone with their 'devil' ways and something about the lead alien possibly being a vegan [or at least having a particular diet of some sort] Very hazy, yes, but I remember enjoying it all the same. Title: Re: Your favorite Star Trek episode(s)? Post by: AndyC on September 07, 2012, 08:03:42 AM Tough question. I've been watching TOS again for the first time in a few years, and I keep getting reminded of great episodes.
I would have to put The Doomsday Machine high on the list. Not only a great performance by William Windom, but I always thought the planet killer itself was a really cool machine. Spock's Brain is good. Kind of a funny episode with some neat ideas, and Deforest Kelley is at his scenery-chewing best. The City on the Edge of Forever has lots going for it. A solid time-travel story with humour, drama and lots of insane Bones. And the funniest episodes, A Piece of the Action and The Trouble with Tribbles both have a lot going for them. Also, A Wolf in the Fold, That Which Remains, The Squire of Gothos, By Any Other Name, The Naked Time and certainly more. Title: Re: Your favorite Star Trek episode(s)? Post by: spacemutant IV on September 10, 2012, 11:27:18 AM I haven't watched TOS in a long time, I should get on that again. I remember some years ago, a friend had borrowed me his DVDs, and I was really surprised at how good this one episode was. I had expected the show to be much more campy...which, I guess, some episodes will deliver. Anyway, in said episode, Kirk lands on some planet, loses his memory, and becomes part of what I remember as being an indian tribe. Anyone know the name of that ep?

TNG- Inner Light- where Picard lives a whole life as someone else in a few minutes. DS9- The Die is Cast- Where the Cardassiana nd Romulans attack the Dominon, and get stepped on. Voyager- two of them Equinox- Where Voyager discovers a ship who didn't take teh high road to get home. Basics I/II- The Season 2 fanale where the crewman who murdered is required to save the ship. Enterprise- Never got into it (I blame the theme song) But I did like the role the Andorians played (Jeffry Combs!) Title: Re: Your favorite Star Trek episode(s)? Mudd's Women I' Mudd The Devil in the Dark The Doomsday Machine Journey to Babel The Tholian Web All Our Yesterdays The Conscience of the King The Ultimate Computer The Galileo Seven The Squire of Gothos Arena The Immunity Syndrome Assignment: Earth And for ultimate cheese, indeed...SPOCK"S BRAIN Brain, what is brain? :bouncegiggle: And who can't like Harry Mudd? Con man, cheat, liar and rogue! He belongs in jail, which is where I thought I left you,Mudd "And thereby, hangs a tale..." Title: Re: Your favorite Star Trek episode(s)? Post by: 66Crush on September 12, 2012, 06:35:30 AM Here's two nobody seems to pick. I don't know why. I think they are both great episodes. I really like "Return of the Archohns." Where the people in the village acted like happy zombies until the Red Hour, then they beat the crap out of each other. Their god Landrew was a computer and Kirk tricked him into self destruction. I also really like "Friday's Child." I like how the Klingon acted all tough, but quickly gave away his ships location when Kirk put a knife to his throat. Plus Tier Aakkarr, sounds like a cheap men's cologne. I also like that Bones slapped that stupid queen, you couldn't get away with that today.

Loved that one! Tapestry I thought was an interesting character piece. Better than Inner Light which I feel is a little over rated. Title: Re: Your favorite Star Trek episode(s)? Post by: Umaril Has Returned on July 06, 2013, 02:15:50 PM Not sure of the title, but there was an classic 60's episode about an archaeologist who was protecting the very last of an alien species of shape-shifting vampire that would suck the salt out of it's victims' bodies. The scientist was protecting it in return for the information it was giving him about the creature's once living culture and history. It took the shape of his wife to give him comfort. This was a step apart from the usual United Federation of Planets drawl where Kirk was playing peacemaker, or making out with alien women. This was a well-done and somewhat scary episode. It's my fave! Title: Re: Your favorite Star Trek episode(s)? There again as a kid it's easy to see how, it was a very serious story and it had a very menacing premise and a somewhat scary creature. I also remember being scared by the faceless, glittery hat and coak wearing Zaticons from the Lost In Space Episode 'wreck Of The Robot." Just the way they walked and talked in those meanicing tones.. Title: Re: Your favorite Star Trek episode(s)? Post by: BoyScoutKevin on July 19, 2013, 04:26:37 PM Ye-es! It really scared me that bad.
Title: Re: Your favorite Star Trek episode(s)? Post by: Umaril Has Returned on July 21, 2013, 09:57:44 AM Ye-es! It really scared me that bad. I can see why though...come to think of it, somewhat off topic, I also remember being somewhat scared (but also fascinated) by the one Lost In Space episode, "Prisoners Of Space" (if I'm right.) In that one, the Robinsons were put on trial by a galactic jury of their peers for crimes against space. The courtroom scene was so awesome...a mist-filled cave, with all manner of space monsters from every corner of the galaxy, amid the eerie music of John Willaims. There was a memory machine that would tell if the person was lying or not as it played their testimony out on screen. Monsters are cool no matter what dude. They scare, but they also fascinate. So, hats off a free round for all our monster buddies! Title: Re: Your favorite Star Trek episode(s)? Post by: Ticonderoga 64 on April 15, 2014, 08:01:30 AM Balance Of Terror
