Title: The Japanese/Chinese fantasy Film Has Plagued My Existence
Post by: alexscales on October 19, 2012, 03:25:45 PM
Hey there, I've been following the site for years, but just recently found this board. Immediately I thought someone out there might be able to help me with this film, and in my excitement I decided to join and write up this huge thing. Sorry if I'm breaking any rules by not introducing myself first! Anyways, here goes:

So this is one of those I-saw-it-on-90's-cable-as-a-kid-late-at-night stories. All I can remember about this film is that it was probably Chinese, and it was about a little boy with psychic powers.  He would draw pictures of the rising sun, and could tell the future. I think he even received messages via the television, sort of like Poltergeist. Early on in the film, one of his caretakers (possibly his mother) takes him out for a day, giving him a ride on a carousel and such, hoping he'll give her the upcoming winning lottery numbers, which he never does.

Anyways, the movie takes this crazy Golden Child turn, and at the climax the characters end up at some sort of temple. I remember there being some sort of trap door/pit of spikes the villain tosses the heroes into, and that's really all I can recall.

I'm hoping this rings some bells for someone out there! Memories of this film haunt me, and I'd love to finally have a name to put to it.
