Title: Undefeatable (1994)
Post by: Torgo on March 14, 2013, 05:03:08 PM
I FINALLY got around to picking up the DVD for the 1994 martial arts cheesefest "Undefetable". I first became aware of this film due to a youtube clip entitled best fight scene of all time
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxkr4wS7XqY
which is the final fight scene in the movie. I don't know how I hadn't heard about this turkey but went on amazon.com and bought the DVD that I received earlier this week.

Porn flick quality acting, groan incuding dialogue, horribly staged martial art fight sequences and one of the most unintentionally hilarious villains of all time in the form of Stingray make this one of the funniest bad movies that I have ever seen. Here's a taste of the cinematic cheese that is Stingray!

This movie is a hoot!  :bouncegiggle: :twirl: :tongueout: :teddyr:

This is one of my personal favourites and certainly Godfrey Ho's most enjoyable film from what I have seen. Stingray certainly provides most of the laughs. I'd suggest checking out Honor and Glory which is another Godfrey Ho movie from the same year. I wouldn't say its quite as good but not too far off, it also does feature some of the same cast.

This movie is brilliantly stupid. Poor Cynthia Rothrock.

I had forgotten that they were trying to position her as the female action movie equivalent of Steven Seagal back in the 90's. That didn't happen by a country mile!

And the sad thing is, she's a much more accomplished fighter than Seagal.  I guess she just lacks his onscreen charisma  :twirl:

(movie exec poised over mirror with lines of cocaine on it reads this ^)

Aw, c'mon, bro, nobody's going to buy a girl as an action hero, amirite?  A middle aged fat guy is where it's at, bro!  *snort*

Actually Seagal was quite in shape during his first few films and didn't really start to balloon up :teddyr: weight wise until the late 90's. It's funny to see how lean he was in Above the Law compared to how he looks now. Getting old isn't fun!

Cynthia is/was very physically gifted and agile, which is a very different style from Seagal, obviously.  What does get me is his now constant gut, and the way the 'love scenes' in his movies now all involve an East-European cutie getting naked while he remains completely clothed!

Steven Seagal was quite fit from Above the Law through Markd for Death but developed a gut by the time Out for Justice rolled around. He managed to mask his weight gain some by wearing dark clothing for a few films but by the time the late 90's had rolled around, he had really ballooned up. Joel Silver got him to get back somewhat into shape for Exit Wounds but since then he's just bee big as a barn from that point on forward. I'll have to try to find some movies that actually showcase Cynthia's alleged fighting prowess.
