The first time I ever saw him,though,was in a small part in "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum". He drank a knock out potion full of mare's sweat....yuck!
R.I.P.,Frank. This reminds me of a thread of mine a bit ago about Richard Briars from Good Neighbors passing away....two very funny men. That was Frank. LOL! I remember that scene from the film. Even then he impressed me. Though, my greatest impression of him was as the department store floorwalker in "Are You Being Served?" Maybe because his portrayal was so true to life. That according to one of the show's creators, Jeremy Lloyd, who said that when alot of the army officers got out of the army at the end of WWII, they became floorwalkers in the department stores in London. Of course, I mostly recall him for Captain Peacock on Are You Being Served?, a show that has never failed to make me laugh out loud. My parents were quite fond of him from Last of the Summer Wine, a show I'm still not as familiar with.

A charming comedy set in a Yorkshire village bursting with such wonderful characters. One of my very favorites. |
